I just got a nice 1993 fastback, and I am really happy so far (cept for the injen intake falling off on a sharp turn.) But somehow I managed to run over a nail and it is making my tire leak like crazy. The only problem is the car has a set of ADR design rims on it and after a search of the car i have determined the previous owner didn't include a lug key for them. I was at an autozone and the guy said that these custom lugs are all unique and I would have to use pliers to remove the lugs and get another set that came with a key. I am not very keen to removing sunk in lug nuts with pliers, and not ready to take that advice without confirmation. What is the best way to get this tire off? Also, as a side note, what is the best way to patch a tire? TIA.

find a socket that just about fits them and pound it on with a hamer and then turn it off like that. Also, when you get them off replac ethe lugs with new ones and also take the leaky tire into a shop and have them patch it for you.

I might have to end up doing that. I can probably find a socket about the right size, but it will be close cause the nuts are recessed into the wheel nearly all the way with only a narrow gap for a tool. Yeah, last time I took a tire in they just plugged it, I mean I could have done that myself, I guess I will have to explain to them what to do!

You're just going to have to break off the lock-lugs. Like Altiman94 said - take a similar-sized ratchet, pound the hell out of it, then unscrew. If you use an extention and are VERY careful with the hammer, you shouldn't scratch or screw up your rims.

hey don't go pounding on a socket take it to the tire shop most of the time one of the techs will have a reverse bite socket. all they all have to do is just put on the lug and turn it out. i have one and it can save alot of headaches. they make reverse bite sockets for almost all bolts and lugs now. just my thought.

if it's a very slow leak & u can wait; goto their website, & contact the manufacturers directly to see if they can just give u a replacement key... then compare the costs of getting a new key (if possible) to just starting over w/ new lugs/key set

here, i'll link it 4 ya to quicken the process...

http://www.adrwheels.com/

good luck n keep us updated

edit

http://www.pepboys.com

goto 'tires and wheels'

click on 'wheel & tire'

then 'ADR' link

finally 'caps and valve stems'

i dunno if this is what the tool looks like; u may haveta walk into the store & physically see the catalog that they have stored in the shelf; i remember from working there that they have more pics & the adr site doesn't deal directly w/ customers anyways <shrugs>

thanks for all the help! I took it by a local quickie shop and they were pretty interested in my car. I talked with the guys for a while and they just happen to have an extra key that fit my lugs so they let me have it. The world isn't all bad!
