Post

Hi everyone! Just got delivery of my new 2010 Infiniti G37 Convertible today - Liquid Platinum with red Monaco Leather and red Maple Accents. Will take some pics over the weekend (I got the car in the evening, and didn't want to do pics with flash). I live in the Middle East, so things are a bit different here - there is only one option, which is a full option. Car is pretty much loaded with everything that Infiniti has to offer. I was curious how it would compare to my 2004 Audi A6 3.0 CVT, also full option.

As expected, ride is a bit firmer on the vert, and pickup is better (Audi is a an executive saloon, and engine is smaller, 260BHP). In good light, vert's interior looks better, but I was surprised that at night Audi still beats it with better ergonomics and lot of nice details when it comes to lighting, so I think that this is an area where I might do some customization. Would appreciate it if you guys have some good ideas on that front, and good sources of LEDs, how-to instructions etc. Right now I am thinking of changing the yellowish dome lights and door courtesy lights to brighter LEDs, replacing the white LED in between dome lights to something stronger and red, and maybe some lights in foot wells.

Welcome aboard!

There are a few discussions on lighting and the part numbers required. If you search the forum, you should be able to find exactly the information you need.

Welcome & congrats on the new ride!
I love the red interior but when the Vert debuted in 2009 the red was only offered with an automatic transmission. Do you have a manual or auto?

I did swap dome, door and trunk lights with LEDs, makes big difference... you need 5 lights
I got 3 sets (6) so 1 spare of
JDM Super Bright Luxer1 12-SMD LED Interior Light Panel For Map Lights or Dome Lights, Fits 168 2825- [color:Xenon White

makes interior shine up even better.

I am thinking about getting the convert but live in the northeast, near Philadelphia. Is the car driveable in the snow if I put 4 snow tires on?

Yup! It's not a 4x4 but if you don't drive for a living it will get you around town for errands & to work.

bschurr, mine is Auto with Paddle Shifters. cmesmurf, thanks for the info, will save it for when I am ready to do the mods. I plan to add few more LEDs (trying to match my Audi) - one in door pocket, one in each foot well, probably one under the rear of each seat. I just find the cabin real dark when compared to the Audi. Dash is fine though, love it, though I am not a real fan of white.

Would also love to add DRLs and mirror LEDs, but haven't fond anything ready made and simple to install.

Finally, am also thinking of getting one of these: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Infiniti ... 2eb3032ad9

It seems to be different from the other ones I've seen on this forum (break light is not split in the middle by the camera). Price is great, but would love to see if any of you tried it and what you think of it?

There are no mirror leds for our car except from Korea. It would require wiring through the door and to a light signal for on and off.

Thanks Fezzik, I searched the forum and found out who sells them in Korea. Will definitely ask my boss to get me a set on his next trip there. I am just surprised that they are not available anywhere else. Will probably also order a spoiler with integrated antenna, love the look of it.

So then with 4 snow tires on you feel that the car is driveable in the snow? I know it won't be a 4x4 but will it drive as well as a GX sedan with AWD and seasonal tires?

I got the PM. Thanks for the answer. Since I'm new on the forum it would not let me send an answer back to your pm until I posted more. The answer is yes, I am a dentist. good job figuring it out. Any hints for when I get the car. I just put a deposit on it yesterday. Fabulous deal. shadow graphite outside, black inside, premium, tech ,sport, navigation, wood. $590/month lease for 10,000 miles and 39 months. They are also going to store my tires for me. should I get the spare tire or are most not using it? Try another PM and I'll see if it lets me respond.

Fezzik,
What did you get for snow tires on the car? Did you get wheels as well? I looked at tire rack and to get wheels I need to go to 18 inches. Is that what you suggest?

I like the look of the stock rims so I purchased some rims from a member on here that are the same offset and and put winter tires on them. If you can go 18" that will be better. The smaller width is better on snow.

As for the spare tire. I didnt get it. Only cars sold in Maryland I think are required by law to have it. I didnt get it b/c I use that area for storage of trunk stuff. If you get the spare you will have no room at all. You can always call infiniti road side assistance.

Cool you are a dentist. I am as well. Will you be going to the CHicago midwinter meeting at the end of Feb?

I checked with the supplier of the side light/mirror cover, it only comes in CF and is $325 shipped to US.

CF would be fine with me...can always paint it if I am not happy with how it looks on the car.
