hey guys, im looking for some advice. my girlfriend drives a '96 crystler sebring and it is the biggest POS! we have shelled-out more money over the last few months to keep the car running than what its even worth. it seems as soon as we fix one thing, then very next week its something else and im to the point where enough is enough. now, her transmission is acting up. it drives in reverse, and reverses in drive! then it wont shift above 2nd gear. she just got a new job working downtown 40 hrs/week and goes to school full-time as well. needless to say i want her to get into something more dependable and reliable!!

now, here's the catch. we have been juggling my car back and forth this week but wont be able to much longer since she starts the new job. im not paying, or letting her pay, for a new transmission in that POS! so...we've been kinda rushed looking for her a replacement. so far we found...

1)2001 altima, 4-cyclinder, silver, power everything, spoiler, 98000 miles for $4900. we called but it sold yesterday! so that sucked, but then...2)2000 altima, 4-cylinder, silver, power everything, 109000 miles for $5900

so, i dont really know much about altimas but they ARE nissan and nissans ARE good cars! i feel good about this car but i want to know ya'lls thoughts about it. any help would be good! thanks again!!

Try to beat him down a grand on the price... not sure the trim package or condition, but from what I typed in it came up 4900-6k.

get her a 4th gen max so as you upgrade you don't have to sell your old parts just pass them along. sorry, i just don't like older altimas. my mom had one and she had lots of probs with the power options. there are pros and cons to every car ben. better yet, let her have your car so you can get a new one.

thanks guys for the help so far! we are planning on going to look/offer saturday. my ideal car for her WOULD have been either a 4th or 5th gen maxima but cant seem to find one in her price range on such short notice. so i guess the most logical thing to do would be to go down one size into an altima. plus i searched around and there's not a freaking ton of parts for them like most other cars.

its a clean looking car to start with, plus tint the windows and add some new headlights/taillights, maybe some rims and she's set! maybe later ill surprise her w/a new injen intake and maybe some other goodies....if she's a good girl, lol!

i know you don't want to hear this and probably dont care, but CE at a TON of aftermarket parts for the altimas. made me want to get one so i could mod it out.
