Finally, after around 2 years of waiting. My other camera (Canon SX10IS) was frustrating me to the point of pretty much not doing any photography for months. It was starting to develop more stuck pixels on the sensor. Noise was becoming an issue for me, even at low ISO's. I had "outgrown" my previous camera.

So I got this:

Nikon D7000 with an 18-200 lens. A 35mm 1.8 lens came later.

It's SO much better. My old camera feels like a toy compared to this one. The image quality is excellent, as is low light performance now that I can crank the ISO all the way up to 6400 and the image will still be salvageable (with a little bit of work in post processing).

Here are my first few shots that I thought were good enough to upload.

1. It's an Austin Healey 3000 MK III if anyone's wondering.

I shot a few shots with my Rolleicord today, I'd be happy if it even turn out half as decent as yours!

Scan the prints when you get them developed. I'd love to see what you come up with. :)

First off...I hate you. That is the exact same camera I have my eye on to get to replace my incredibly old Pentax K10D.
The Pentax K5 actually has the same sensor as the Nikon D7000 but I'm having a hard time deciding if I want to stick with Pentax (anti shake built into the body ftw) or just switch to Nikon for the more plentiful lenses.

Beautiful photos!!

Thanks! :)

Even though they both share the same sensor, I think the K5 takes slightly better photos in a technical aspect. The K5 looks like a great camera. I've never used a Pentax though. Either way, you're going to get a great camera. I'd say stay with Pentax if you already have a couple lenses. I'd say to go with Nikon at the same time. Extra support from 3rd party manufacturers is nice, plus all the great Nikon glass you get to choose from.

It pretty much comes down to weather or not you're willing to change your whole camera system.

Pictures look great dude! I was wondering when you were gonna upgrade you're camera. I have that same SX10 and it just collects dust most of the time as I don't really take pictures.

If you get really good, you can start selling them and finally get a car!!! :D

Purrrrdy. Something like that will be my next camera. I'll wait 'til my newish SX30IS pisses me off as much as your SX10 did you.

Thanks. I've been wanting to get some prints for a while. I might order a few larger ones and see if anyone wants to buy them before I go full on spending lots of money on stuff like that. I said this last year, but by the end of this year I want to get a coffee table book made. I'm working on the car thing too. ;)

I'd buy the SX30IS just for it's lens. It's probably not all that sharp but 24-840mm (35mm equivalent) is ridiculous.
