Well I've shared this with Zilvia and the local guys, but figured i'd see what you all thought about it:

So this is a street car, completely. Insurance, legal plates, full stereo with sub/amp, pump gas, and it'll still pretty much pass a state inspection. So yea, i did have to cut a few corners to make a few things more streetable, but its literally EXACTLY what i wanted and needed. Just a 6pt...for now.

Opinions?

And here is the rough build of it. Because im bored, and feel like posting pictures. It's not built to NHRA spec, but it will pass tech, and be qualified for any racing event i plan on ever doing, drifting, Auto-X, and Drag (i'll never be fast enough to be a better cage). It was done by a close friend of mine, he did all the welding, and the bending of main hoop at his house. I did most of the prep work that i could, grinding, clearing sound deadening, wire-wheeling prep for welding, etc... So for a home-built cage, done and finished, I am unbelievably stoked for how it turned out. I have $180 in materials including tubing, paint, 6x6 steel plates, and under body coating.

lol the wheels dont look as bad in person as they do in these pictures. they are 8" and 9" still.

But i agree, should have my 10" and 9" RPF1's or NS-01s this summer

I would have done a bolt in cage for the street probably.

FYI I don't think that cage is SCCA legal. Not that it matters, but I figured just in case you were considering SCCA..

This may b a stupid question but I've seemed to notice it alot, but why do people paint the roll cage after it's put it, woulden it be easier to paint it before, unless scratching the paint would b the issue. Look dope btw! Makes me wanna look into doing it but I'm not plannng on doing any events for a Kool while till I be my car more done

man looks good are you going to use a 5 point harness if so im not 100% on this but i thought that the shoulder straps are level with your shoulders to like 2 inches below just in the pics it looks a little high

The harness bar is a hair higher than usual, because i have a long torso, and i didnt want the bar to be below my shoudler, in case of an accident, i dont want the harness to pull my shoulder down, i want them to hold them in place.

You can paint the cage before you put it in because when you weld it together, you would burn off any paint within 8-12 inches of the weld.

looks great, nice fab work!

That's really a 4 point with door bars. A true 6 point has down bars following the A-pillars. The door bars as they sit now are nothing more than a problem in getting in/out of the car. Very little rigidity is added from the way you guys designed it without the A-pillar bars and the roof being tied into the rear hoop.

NHRA still requires them to be there if you want to run 11.49 and faster.
