Hi,

I just purchased a 240SX coupe with a CA18DET engine in it, well, I get it tuesday, but after that I will have it. It has some mods, I was wondering if anyone could tell me about how fast this car can run init's current form and a few other things. Here is what the car has:

1989 240SX coupe (supposedly the lightest 240SX made)CA18DET enginet25g turbo from S13 SRROM tuned to support turbo and modsgreddy downpipeGreddy TR EVO 2 exhaust (94mm piping I believe and eliminates the cat)performance clutch + lightweight flywheelBOV, if that mattersintakefront mount intercooler

No boost controller, but after reading a bit I guess I should expect it to be running like 10-12psi or so? I will hook up the boost gauge when I get it. How fast is the car as is?

With a boost controller, how far can I go on the SR T25 turbo?

Off of the car I have 444cc injectors and HKS fuel management, should I install these or wait to get a better turbo to even bother? Would I be able to get more out of the T25 with the injectors and dyno tuned with the HKS super afr?

Thanks for the help, this will be my second 240sx, only my other was a KA24DE, so this will be a big upgrade, and the second turbo car I've owned, I'm looking forward to it to say the least.

If the car is running perfect, @ 15 psi it should be trapping atleast 104. Which is good for low 13's on street tires or high 12 on slicks.

So I can run 15psi as is? Or should I wait for the injectors and fuel management to be installed/tuned?

Are you in a rush? :D

Before you get the injectors et al installed, do yourself a favor and get some basic diagnostics. An EGT and a decent gauge to go with it would be a good first step. That way you can see exactly whether or not your engine likes that extra boost in its current setup.

No rush, I just like speed. ;)

A boost gauge will be installed same day, an EGT gauge when I get around to buying one.

I was under the impression that a t25 could do about 15psi, so I was curious, I'll probably be safe and leave it as is though.

Monitoring equipment is a must.Boost and EGT are in order.

Don't rule out additional eprom tuning.

Yes the SR can hold 15 psi and the 370cc injectors hold up fine but are close to the limit. Make sure you also strap it on a dyno to see what the wideband reads.

Yeah, I was reading the thread about making something to change the eproms, I could just do that and change everything up for 444cc injectors so everything would run alright and then fine tune at the dyno with the HKS AFR?

Sweet, thanks.

I don't have an upgraded fuel pump,t hat will be on quick though, and I will refrain from 15 psi until then if suggested...or will the stock pump do the job?

I have always ran a Walbro 255. I wouldnt take a chance on a 10+ year old fuel pump.

Fuel pump should be replaced immediately.

It's a very good idea to change to better suited fuel pump.

At 15psi, not only are those injectors over the limit, but so is your stock fuel system to include turbocharger, even if it is an SR T25. The SR's turbo can hold 15psi, but for how long is the question. Those turbos aren't new either and people have to understand that. They are still a relatively small unit that is vulnerable to high boost, so I would say 15psi will work for a while, but when it goes, it's gone and it's taking a few other things out as well. Using a safc with the 444s will help with the fuel addition and is a fairly cheap upgrade as well.

T25G over 12 psi or so WILL die in no time. Like a year TOPS (on a NEW T25). Hence why for a while, 12 pounds will be my ceiling. I am no rush for big power tho. Hell, 9psi on everything mostly stock is plenty fun for me:)
