welcome to nico!

iacv needs cleaned or you need to adjust your idle speed. look for vacuum leaks as well.

more info is required to help you out. what year is the car? what engine? where is the tap coming from?

its a 91, ka24de, and i dont really know where its coming from. Im about to prolly take the engine apart, and get rebuild (160k miles). unless it runs good if i can fix it.

if you dont mind the time and money involved in the rebuild, go for it!

im assuming that because you used the word tapping, its not rod knock. if its the timing chain, you can remove the upper guide, but id really stress replacing the chain and tensioners if it has never been done.

as for idle/hesitation problems, that is probably one of the most common and hard to trace problems with the ka24.

you can check your iacv first, but also look at all the general maintenance and tune-up parts and your engine grounds.
