Alright I installed new shifter bushings last year because I had alot of shifter play, not so much that it would slip into other gears and such, but enough that it could be roated like an inch and could move up and down about 2 millimeters.

I installed the brand new bushings *the pivot one on the bottom, and the big one that it sits on with the metal studs on the sides* and it hasn't changed at all. What's the deal? Why is there so much play with new bushings? I'm at my wits end someone help me, surely someone else has this problem.

Try shimming the pivotball. Get washers and stack them above and below the plastic cup that holds the ball-shaped part of your shifter so there is no up and down play when you put the snapring back in. Make sure the plastic cup isn't somehow wore out while you're in there.
