Do you have dyno numbers for the exhaust? I would like to see where the BRM is inline with Nismo, borla, b&b et al.

Here you go, guys:

These are IDENTICAL to the NISMO units, with the following exceptions: The BRM units are TIG welded as opposed to MIG welded, and have a cleaner, more custom finish on all seams and welds (NISMO units are mass-produced and not as clean).

T-304 Stainless construction, billet stainless flange.

Dyno #'s: 9hp in the 3800-6000 rpm range, 13 hp and 13 lb/ft at peak.

Rydwhite: No need to compare B&B and NISMO, as the NISMO units are made by B&B.

Fred, so far all the headers made for the coupe/350 fit the sedan. Only things that are different are from the rear ypipe flange back. Some different shimming may be required for the suspension cross pieces, but that is newbie mechanic difficulty.

Correct.

At this point, anyone who would buy a NISMO set (or other manufacturer) would be throwing money away.

Once again, Rex (NICO founder) comes through with a HUGE hook-up for his NICOnauts. :D

Is this for the headers and exhaust together?

I have read a write up on dyno numbers comparing several different exhausts and if I remember correctly, the only one that didn't loose hp under 2800 rpm was NISMO. All the other exhausts, including B&B lost a couple hp under 2800. I will have to re-read that to make sure though. Anyway, I am interested in the price at least. I have been keeping this car stock to keep the warranty in tact, but my itch to mod has been increasing. I keep trying to tell myself to hold off until the warranty is over. No matter what I have to wait until the spring when hopefully I will have a little extra cash throw around.

I talked to the man is organizes them , who is my feind and I trust him.

the BRM's are made by the same manufacturer , by the same people, to the same design, at the same location, as the NISMO exhaust.

They perform the same, from what I understand the quality migth be even better as beter welds are used.

micah - Email me for pricing.

Rydwhite - The info you read is, as Fred said, erroneous. The NISMO is indeed mfr'ed by B&B. Only 2 companies currently MANUFACTURE headers / exhausts for the G35/350Z. Yes, only 2.

Joe (at Scottsdale) is in the process of installing a set of BRM headers on his G35 as we speak...

I'd blame the typical variance between dyno's and operators (and cars) for any discrepancies.

I reread the report and it was for the Z, they of course didn't have anything of BRM's. Sorry for the confusion.

No problem.

The Z and the G headers and catback are virtually identical, and produced nearly identical dyno numbers.

I think the problem they were running into was the "true duals" everyone's so amped up for aren't al they've cracked up to be. Maintaining the factory configuration with the Y-pipe and just removing the minor restrictions creates MORE hp, the true duals actually decreased low-end power. Beware of such systems.

I may need to talk with you about getting some BRM info on G35driver.

Give me a call if you get a chance, I know you have some tenure and credibility on there.

I will post dyno's on G35 Driver as well as quartermile times before and after should a set of headers be supplied "for testing".

Now if you already have g35 sedan dyno's we would love to see them but I am running the quarter mile Saturday and can dyno for a baseline thet same day. I can have all this data done by early January. That will go a long way toward selling these (aside from the pricing being much better than Nismo).

let me know if I can be of any assistance to you. I am going to buy headers in the next couple months regardless, but do not plan to dyno before (only after for tuning purposes). Please inform people that they will need to be concerned with the a/f ratios after installing headers. Most VQ engines run lean (anywhere from 15:1 to 17:1 in the upper rpm ranges) after adding headers.

An S-AFC from Apexi or a Technosquare ECU update are the most popular fixes for N/A motors

This is a wonderful mod and I fully plan on doing it, BRM and Xerd are the two leading choices right now IMO.

vq35de, it's nice to see some people here with technical know-how who actually own a G and are doing some mods. Thanks for sticking around and lending your knowledge, we need more G drivers like you here on NICO.

vq - Email me - We'll discuss.

I already have one set out to a customer on my credit card, so it may be tough for me to "float" another set.

We can discuss some options, especially since the price is so low.

AZHitman, you got mail, I still have your phone number if you want me to call you.

To the rest.I learned this VQ by being one of the pinheads. Back in 1992 I bought my first Nissan a SE-R and since have been involved in all aspects of modifications on a personal basis. 92 SE-R, an 89,87 and 96 Sentra 1.6, a 94 altima, a 92 maxima, a 2002 altima and a Hardbody pickup.

I also have 63,000 miles on VQ engines, which puts me near the top. I have been involved in header testing, pulley testing, intake testing and comparo's, transmission mod research, and EXTENSIVE catback testing for myself and 2 companies. I have always been a guinea pig and will continue to be. That is why I have bought 3 first model year cars in the last 3 years.

I have traveled to Utah, California, Florida, the Carolinas and Texas to associate with other Nissan owners.

It is a hobby, that is why.

No BS, I am impressed with vq's and everyone else's knowledge and experience. I'm glad there's a place to spread the word.

Micah, near the top of the mileage surveys. Most people with 2002 VQ's are still under 30,000 miles, most people with 2003's are under 20k miles.

I have more seat time in a variety of environments with the VQ in both stock and modified versions than most owners. Southeastern US summer and winter, Rocky mountain winter and summer, California summer and winter and spring, Arizona all four seasons both north and south.

That is it. Not bragging, I am just stating some background if anyone wants to discuss something you know where I am coming from.
