I finally replaced my front brakes after 52,600 miles of HARD driving. Cost at the dealer was $225 with coupon (normally over $300).

DISCLAIMER: Now before you all pounce on me for having the dealer do what I am capable of doing myself... I needed this done quickly, I do not have a garage (let alone a heated one), it's freezing outside, I have tons of service calls of my own to take care of (computer tech... I'm always on the road). I have never paid anyone to do anything like this on any of my cars, but the convenience factor was worth it to me. Also, since both rotors needed to be machined, had I done this myself, I'd have to throw the car on blocks while I search for a shop that is 1) open, and 2) capable of machining the rotors same-day, on foot, since I only have one car and all my friends are busy.

It's amazing how gradually your brake performance decreases... you don't realize it until you replace the pads...

That is good service out of a set of front pads on a front wheel drive car driven hard. Not a bad price either for dealership brake work.

I have done a few brake jobs myself also, and paid for a few. Of those I've paid to have done, the dealership brake jobs always turned out the best. I have several horror stories from private shops and brake jobs.

One of the reasons the private shops sometimes turn out horrible brake jobs is due to the materials used and improper procedures. They may fail to properly resurface the rotors, use cheap pads and rotors, they might not properly clean and lube the caliper slides... Some automakers install fairly good quality pads at the factory; Every Nissan I've owned with genuine Nissan pads (factory or replacement), has always had stellar brake performance throughout the life of the pads. My original pads were perfect from day one to the time of replacement and never squeaked even once. I did not replace my rotors, by the way; they are around $250 each or $150 each, something like that. I had mine machined, and they did a very nice job.

EBC Green is not bad, but I am wonderin do you really need that....

Because I tried a Versa without ABS, I can pretty lock all 4 tires anytime I want with stock stuff already....

I tried to do a gas & brake for like 5 min, and then test the brake at high speed again, it doesn't really fade that much....

Yea... dealer rotors are like 200ish each all the time. and REMEMBER, those dealer rotors, dealer can always re-surface that to brand new easily, but they somehow can't do that with Brembo rotors...

Does it worth it.... depends on how you use it....

Sounds like you got good life out of the factory pads, good to know.

And you did your part to help out the ailing automotive industry. Sounds like a win, win situation.

He's in the USA and you're in Canada. It's possible there is a difference in pricing. There's likely to be a difference in pricing even vetween dealers in the same country. Keep that in mind before you go shouting, "WRONG!!!!!"

I actually won't need it because brake pads are just part of an equation to better braking. Tires have more to do with better braking than pads.

I figured since no one was keeping an eye on those, I figured I'd buy it for a cheap price Win/win situation. Why try going faster when I can try stopping faster

OH yea.... you are right, when I test the Versa, it's the stock conti too...

But... the stock tire is a good set of tires to scare PPL, and makes you looks like a Pro in front of high school kids! LOL
