just upgraded my brakes to EBC sport rotors with Hawk pads on front and back axles. the install was easy on my g37x took about 3 hrs going slow. after twos days of having super smooth and quiet braking. i now notice a squeaking sound from my front breaks when im not braking. its like a squeaky shopping cart type sound when i get above 20 mph. I didnt forget to lub the shims and i wd-40ed all bolts before screwing them in, everything is tight, cant visually see anything loose or rubbing. even though there is a squeak while not braking, the brakes are silky smooth and quiet when im actually braking. so saftey wise i feel great. but the sound is kinda annoying, but only can be heard if the windows are down.

Am i reacting too early to this? could it just be the pads still beading in?

I was going to give it about 5 more days before i pull the front tires off, cause i suspect/hope its just the pads wearing in.

here are pics of the install

is it possible you over WD-40'd the bolts and it dripped onto the caliper/rotor/pad?

I woudl be willing to bet its just breaking though.

EDIT: could you pleae PM what you replaced on your fog lights? thanks in advance

I just replaced the bulbs with I think ultra white 6000k bulbs to match the headlights, I wasn't a fan of yellow fogs

do you recall where you picked them up and who made them?.

re: your brakes, how about you take the calipers off and remove the pads and then put it all back together. you never know, it may be one of those freak things

A lift huh...you wouldn't be talking about the AUTO hobby shop on base would you :)

That's one benefit I do miss...

i adjusted all shims and brackets on my front brakes. (sound was limited to the front brakes)

its been about 2.5 weeks and the sound has reduced to mostly wind noise. there is still a noticable sound if im close to a wall on the highway, or if a car passes by close. So its looking like it was mostly break in noise. I did know i was going to get a little more wind noise with slotted brakes. The sound is to the point where if the windows are up i cant heard it at all any more. i Hope it continues to reduce.

and yes Joe i have base access :)

called up EBC and they said their rotors have a 2000 mile break in period. I have about 2k miles on the brakes now and the wind noise has reduced to a point where its not annoying. I really only notice the sound of the rotors when im close to a wall on the highway. I cant hear the sound with the windows up at all.

Stopping power is great though. It's a definite upgrade from the stock brakes. but next time i buy rotors, unless EBC addresses the wind noise, i will be buying another brand. :yesnod
