Just posting this here to confirm before I buy the parts and do all the work. The fan in my 04 Pathfinder sometimes makes a bit of noise, it sounds to me like the fan is wearing out, bad bearings or whatever it is that would fail. If I wanted to fix this , is the blower motor the correct part that I would need?

If yes, it looks like replacing the motor is fairly easy. I haven't found clear information, but it looks to me like the motor is located either under the dash or behind the glovebox on the passenger side, and is easily accessible. Does that sound about right?

Replacing a noisy fan is fairly easy if you have any DIY skills.
The fan is located behind the glove box and is accessible.
The glove box is easy to get out as well.
While you are in there, check/replace your cabin air filters, if you have them.
They can get pretty nasty after a while.

Yep, it's the correct part. After performing this fix on a Volvo 240, I was blown away at how easy it was to replace in the Pathfinder. Just remove the glovebox, remove some trim, and replace the fan. It's very accessible. I did this in my Pathfinder: the days of the squeaky, noisy, annoying fan are gone and forgotten.

It may be worthwhile to pull the fan and do a quick inspection before you buy a new one. When I bought mine, the fan was making an unbearable whining noise but it turned out to be a shopping bag in the ducting rubbing against the blades. No problems since :)
