Originally on this car there was just a straight plastic tube where there was always shown to be a blender valve... so I swapped it out for one of those aluminum ones and well, I've known there was a tiny coolant leak since I could faintly smell it in the engine bay. Today I got around to doing my old wrap the suspected spots with a paper towel and tape then go for a drive and ofcourse the new bleeder valve leaks. Im going to try and just replace the o ring seal but I was wondering id this is a common issue with that one? It didn't occur to me that it could potentially get too hot and ruin the seal vs being plastic thoughts?

Hope I'm understanding this one right...

If it originally had no bleeder screw (in the T-fitting), then it was done that way on purpose.

The threads may not have been 100% compatible (even if the valve threaded in nicely). I'd remove it, and replace with the correct T-fitting. A quick Google search shows they're not expensive.
