A beer company advertising on an automotive site, showing ten Buzzfeed-like signs we should 'slow down' if our shirt is on backwards, our keys are in the freezer, etc.?

How about the very real possibility that we lost our keys because we drank too much, or hey, we killed someone with our car?

New Belgium makes great beer, and their marketing is solid, but perhaps they should be asking people to slow down their drinking if they plan to drive.

This is an excellent site with a great community, and I hope it continues to make money so it can stick around, but I think this ad was in very poor taste - an oversight.

Are you referring to an ad on NICOclub?

...huh? I don't see the connection. Just because there's a beer ad on an automotive site doesn't mean we're promoting drinking and driving. That's a bit of a reach, don't you think?

Who drinks beer? Mainly men over the age of 21. Who modifies cars? Mainly men over the age of 16. So in my thinking, wouldn't an automotive site be a perfect place for a beer company to advert? It would make as much sense as advertising during sporting events.

Let's put it this way: The Super Bowl is a "family" sporting event, or at least is viewed that way by most. So is Budweiser promoting underage drinking by showing ads while children are watching?

Remember when we started labeling everything and suddenly people lost common sense? OH WAIT- that already happened.

You don't need an ad to tell you that drinking and driving is a poor choice. Everyone knows it's illegal and has serious consequences when caught... And I say "when" because those that buck that law only have to wait for a when, not an if.

I love some Fat Tire or 1554.

Just not when I'm driving!

With regard to the post:
Ads on NICO are provided by ad-services and are largely user-targeted. So odds are you're seeing different ads than the rest of us. I've never seen a beer ad of any kind on NICO, despite being a New Belgium drinker myself. I mostly get Toyota ads because of the time I was dumb enough to not use Incognito Mode when googling a fix for a friend's 2012 model and now the ad provider thinks I am super crazy about going home with a new blandmobile as soon as humanly possible.

:wtf2:

and which nanny-state are you from? CA, NJ, NY, MA or DC? you should write and petition to your legislators to make a law: WARNING LABELS EXPLAINING THE DANGERS OF DRINKING & DRIVING ON ALL BOTTLES OF ALCOHOL. call its the "RGK LAW". you know... 'its for the children'.
