Well the time has come. My oem battery is shiitting the bed. Its been 3.5 years/27,000 miles. So tomorrow ill be purchasing a new battery. Im either going to get the "red" top or the "yellow" top optima line. ($180 or $220)

Red or Yellow? and why?

Im leaning toward red

Not yet. Its still alive. Ill be shocked if it starts tomorrow on my way to advanced auto. These oem batteries r trash, others have failed sooner.

My OEM lasted longer than yours @ 80k/km but it FAILED my three times and the last few months it struggled starting.

I replaced it when it failed me back in November morning and it wasn't even that cold up here.

I went it Red Top because of the Cold Cranking Amps, makes sense since this was my problem with the OEM and I'm running stock Audio System.

i heard red tops are better if you have a system and such. yellow tops are just better oem replacements.

Your battery had a good run! The one on my 08' Coupe lasted about 13,000 miles.

Kirkland Signature Car battery!!! I don't have one but their super cheap, have a long warranty, and all the specs match the optimas some even better. Plus Johnson Controls is the company that makes all of these batteries. They make the Optima, Diehard, Autozone, Interstate, Prostart and a few others... If you have a costco card i would consider them. Their also a consumer report best buy! :bigthumb:

My audio shop also recommends red tops for system, yellow tops for stock audio. They told me this 1 week after I bought my yellow top when installing my wiring (of course). Either way Optima is a great line, my yellow still runs 14.4 volts on average (car running) even with the system cranked. I usually hit about 13.8V at start up.

Sorry to go off topic but, has anyone experience the engine oil smelling like gas? Some people on nissanclub are saying it could be the case of a bad battery?

I got a new battery when I blew my transmission at around 55,000 miles/ 3 years. Wonder how much longer it would have lasted. Congratz on getting a good deal. :bigthumb:

I would suggest Red Top. I had one in my old truck 5.9L v-8 with MSD ignition, I had 4 10's behind the seat, 4 6x9's, two 3", 2 amps, and a disc changer. The Red Top never once even struggled and I had it for about 2-3 years.
