So I was trying to leave work yesterday and my car wouldnt start. No click at all when i turned the key. Great, my battery died. I didnt leave any lights on or anything like that, so it just drained itself. Got it jumpstarted and got home and decided to take a look at it. The negative cable clampo for the battery terminal is as tight as it will go, but it is not tight at all around the terminal. I had to rotate it until it got as tight as it would get, and then it would start.

I want to replace the clamps, so i would no longer have this problem, cuz umm....when your car doesnt start..it sucks! heh

How much of a pain is this to do? i havent any idea how to do it, and i'd rather not mess with it myself cuz i have to work tonight, and i want it to be fixed right. Where can i go get new clamps? and how hard is it to change them out?

also, if the battery was running low, would the car click when i tried to turn it over? cuz i would have to try usually 2 or 3 times to start the car before it would catch and run. the first 2 times it would just click, and wouldnt turn over, but it usually always caught on the next try. thanks

Changing battery clamps is easy, $3 job.

You might want to put some anti corrosion spray on the terminals.

Also, if you have a low battery your car would not start .... period, no matter how much you crank it.

1st crank would immediately drain the battery, keep trying and the battery gets drained even further.

You have other problems.

care to explain how easy it is to do? and whats gotta be done

i think the clamp being lose killed the battery. right when i got home, i pulled in the garage, shut off the car...then tried to start it again and got nothing

thats when i found that the clamps were loose. cleaned both terminals, put the cables back on, then i moved the negative till it was as tight as it would go and then it started.

Un-do old clamps by removing the securing bolts, put new clamps on, install back on battery.

Very straight forward.
