Yeah, she's a pretty tame driver. She'll probably open the evo up more, when we get the registration situation straigtened out (previous owner owes the DMV $433).
Having such a steep torque curve is something to get used to. It's like driving a civic for the first 3000 rpm, then V8 style power kicks and throws you into the back of your seat (leather recaros are nice btw).

Nice ride, how is the comparison for gas mileage? I got horrible mileage on my last tank after a transmission flush, hmm.. Hope it works well for you and the family!
Right, now it's about the same or slightly better than the G. Kind of hard to stay out of boost (intentionally). The last two tanks with a decent amount of boosting averaged high 18s, low 19s. We haven't done much freeway driving with it. The shop still needs to do a road log to isolate the part of the fuel map that applies to freeway cruising. At that point, it will go into open loop and target 14.7-15.1 AFR, that should bring us into mid 20s or possibly higher for fuel economy.
Only "problem" right now is that there's drone between 75-85 mph. It's pretty extreme. I was advised to do a little sound deadening in the trunk around the muffler. If that doesn't do it, I'm going to have the "coffee can" style resonator replaced with a mini-casket or something similar which should quiet things down a little.
Setting off alarms gets old after a while
I'm currently looking at buying an 05 WRX. I've been negotiating with the guy and got it down to $8500. If I can get it down to $8000, it will be a great investment (KBB fair price is over $9500).
The one thing I miss about my G is the respect and awe it demanded. The evo just makes people ridiculously jealous.
