HELP!

Just picked up my shiney new Armada Friday, and headed 400 miles away for a much needed vacation. The 6 hrs there were wonderful - drove like a champ!...........BUT........

This morning (Sunday), we got on the road around 9am and drove for about 3 hrs. We stopped for gas, and the wife jumped in the back to checkout the dvd player, leaving me to navigate alone.

Anyway, she asked that I turn on the ac for the rear, which I did. About 30 mins we later, we started to comment on how "warm" it seemed. I didn't have it on recirculate and it was blowing almost warm air, but the AC was clearly on and on LOW. I put it on AC HIGH and the improvement was LITTLE. During this time, we also noticed the fan on the passenger dash side was louder then normal, almost like the vent was closed, but I checked and it wasn't.

It almost seemed like it froze up (?). Another curious "symptom" was, the air coming out the driver side seemed cooler then what came out the rear and passenger side.

Anyway, drove the rest of the way with the air on high, just to keep the inside temp a LITTLE decent (too hot to open the windows). Spent two hours at our destination, and when we got back in the Armada, problem gone. Blew cold the whole 1/2hr drive home.

I'll be calling the dealer in the morning, but if anyone knows of a bulletin or known problem here, or ideas, please advise!

I love this vehicle and am problably getting too nervous this early on, but read some problems it has had (not ac though!) and am worried! Thanks,Ken

Some of car & drivers complaints were the fan system seemed very loud in the Armada. Rear window ice over, and "cloppity over highway bumps"

I am guessing you know the car has a dual climate control. Make sure both sides are on the temp that you desire not just your side. Also, the back has its own temp and fan settings too. But my Armada fan does seem pretty loud once you go over 3 on the fan setting.

Also, with any new car sometimes things just happen and never will happen again.

Good luck and happy motoring.

make sure you arent loosing coolant out of the radiator cap. If the engine temp climbs high enough it will shut off the compresor.

Thanks for the replies!

I'll check for the coolant, but the engine temps were fine.

I also made sure that all the AC settings were at the coldest, but still only got warm air. The "sitting for 2 hours" thawed or did something.

I just ran out in it this morning on errands and it blew ice cold. Maybe this is going to be an issue with "extended driving" on trips, but that's one reason I bought it.Ken

Since this was revived. There is a tsb for this problem. Some require a new clutch fan, some a ECM reflash. All get a new condensor fan and a foam air dam kit to direct more air through the condensor. This Tsb applies to 2004 through 2006 A60 and TA60 model vehicles. The repairs varies according to VIN.

My bad for not reading through the initial post again. Yea its an idle issue for the TSB.
