Hello,

I am VERY new to the Nissan/import scene and want to tune my 2WD 95 Nissan hardbody truck with the KA24E and 5 speed transmission. I have tuned Ford diesel trucks in the past and am not really worried about the software itself. My main concern is:

What is the best tuning software for a guy interested in tuning his own truck and maybe one or two other vehicles?

Where is the best place to buy the socket (i think these are needed to remove and replace the eprom? correct me if I'm wrong P&Q) for the ecu?

I've read about switching to the 240sx ecu when doing the intake swap? I'm interested in the swap, should I wait to tune until I get the new ECU?

I realize this is a lot of questions for one post nd will split them up into different posts if necessary..

Thank you.

I have not done any tuning on my '95 but I can tell you that you will need a U12 Nissan Stanza computer from the years 90-92 for starts. Next you will want to visit Moates.net for a chip and bridge. You are going to have to solder in the bridge in place of the OEM Eprom. From there it's about either downloading tunes or building your own and burning them to the chip. eccs.hybridKA.com used to be a good source for all that info. I currently don't have the latest on whether the site is still running or not. The other way to go is Megasquirt stand alone. I have no experience with that system...yet. There is a thread in this truck forum with lots of info about adding Consult to the trucks by using a U12 Stanza computer. Search, it's from a couple years back. Lots of good info in there. Good luck!

Thank you for the reply!

Can you elaborate more on why I need the different computer? Not trying to get out of buying it, just curious to know what the differences are.

Thank you for the link to that site! I may call them sometime today and ask some questions.

Is there a better site or forum for these questions?

Thank you

Yeh the eccs.hybridka site is full of tuning info. The reason I say a Stanza computer is because it is tunable. The truck computers really are not tunable because they were made by a different company. They are also not consult capable. Neither is the 89-90 240sx computer, those guys swap to Stanza computers too.

Flashpaq makes a performance tuner for Nissan Hardbody trucks. The part # is 4860, this might be something to consider.

what is consult? please tell me more about this.

From what I've read so far, I take my stock truck, plug in the ecu from a 90-92 u12 stanza, get the chip and socket put in by a computer shop, and then what is the next step?
