The new and improved mounts even stronger than before. Notice in the bends on the mounts there are no cuts. We have now started to pressure bend all of the mounts. All of the welds are now done by tig, old mount kits were mig welded. If it doesn't have a C cut into it they aren't Core performance mount kits.

Can I get a close-up of the welds. From the ones you posted they still look like mig. Or stick. The one weld on the top pic has a little tail, which is very uncharacteristic of tig.

Good job on the new mounts. The thing I notice the most is the transmission mount. it's sloted for easy install vs the older one.

the improved mounts are pressure bent and MIG welded.

There was a mis communication at the shop.

Those slots on the transmission mount looks a lot better than mine considering I had to slot mine myself. Good job making a good product great. Hell I am still happy with the old style but this is a much better way of manufacturing.

The mounts look great..

..although I've always thought the metal looked thin. Have you seen McKinney's? (of course you have) They could be used as boat anchors. I believe they MIG theirs.

Couple questions. Are these mounts a 'one kit fits all' type of deal? RB20/25/26? Because I don't see different order options. And have you guys load tested these to determine their average breaking point? Like driving a forklift over a steel toed boot to test it.. same concept. Just curious.

But yea, great idea with the pressure bending and TIG.

With the use of the TopHat mount kit (or McKinney) is it still necessary to use the Skyline front crossmember?

They fit all of the rb series. With the 26 it requires a custom downpipe, unless you're sporting a right hand drive chassis.

i've not had any problems with the old ones. i thought they were a bit thin too, but you have to see them in the car to understand how they work.

im really having a hard time with this one guys

i understand its important for product updates espically in the rb community, BUT tophat is not an advertiser for NICO.

so please, from this point on lets keep any product specific questions like price PRIVATE

thanks guys.

Does anyone know where I can get replacement bushings for the motor? My friend sold me his Top Hat mounts but can't find the bushings.

Mike Sims at Top Hat told me that the starter hump on the transmission housing is tight to the firewall tunnel. "It will fit without doing that but as the drivetrain vibrates going down the road it will make a lot of noise in thedrivers compartment."

I dented mine in a little more than an inch, so I hope that does the trick.

Here's a link to the pic of my firewall indentation. I don't know if it will be enough, but that's about as far as I could get it to go without getting violent.

okay maybe I'm a moron, but I can't figure out where these pieces of the motor mounts go. I know where the motor mounts bolt to the engine block and the rubber bushings attach to those. I also know how the transmission mount fits onto the 240SX body. My question is, where do the two pieces in my hand in the picture attach to the body and motor?

Duh they bolt to the KA cross member, but is the side with the two holes in it supposed to line up with the slot on the cross member? If so, then the angled brace part should line up vertically, correct? If THAT's the case, then my mounts don't line up very well. Can somebody, (hopefully s13burger) explain this a little better to me as no instructions or diagrams were included with the mounts?

I think the last thing they want is a bunch of people taking up their time to explain how to install their mounts. The directions Carl provided will save everybody time.
