I did this for the reason of the stereo, i ran all 4 gauge. New wire from the alt to the battery. new ground from the block transmission and battery. didn't notive any "power" gains but the stereo sounds better!! If any body has any questions let me know.

Sounds pretty straight forward. Some pictures would be nice though.

A common(or should be) upgrade for larger stereos, or newer vehicles with a lot of computer controlled electronics. Its called "The Big 3". Its all based on getting power back into the battery. Adding a power cable from the battery to Alt, Adding a ground wire for the battery, and adding another Alt/Engine ground.

Hey wassup! I did a stereo upgrade..the works (sub and speaks + amps) have notice some slight drainage of power. I have some extra wires i can def use. Could you post a diagram of the specific places? or do you simply replace the exsiting wires with the fatter ones. Really appreciate it. Dont wanna drain the battery and kill the alt over time. Thanks!

Dont replace wires, ADD to them. Find the positive on your ALT, then run a extra wire to the Positive post on your battery. Take another piece of wire, bolt it to the negative of your battery then bolt it to a close ground, or some close metal bolt. Then find any bolt on the engine(I used one by the ALT) and run a wire from that bolt, to a bolt on the chassis.

The "Big Three" is the next best thing to an alternator upgrade. If any of you are having light dimming issues, this will probably help out a bit. Never use a capacitor, you'll just waste your money.

OMG I think I love you. People spend ungodly amounts on a cap, but yet for $100 they could get a small SVR, that has such a high discharge rate, and capacity, that it would take 1000s of Farads worth of caps to get the same results.

My Versa used to have 4 12inch Bravox subs, with Memphis amps, I had over 2500 RMS, not peak, but RMS. I had the big 3 and a small SVR battery, stock battery up front(still there actually) and I never had a dimming issue.

Some of my old system out of the car:

so i was just wondering what would happen if i were to just replace the wire to a bigger gauge?? any advantage of keeping the OEM wire there with new bigger wires??

and also is there a specific type of wire to use or any will do??

... but replacing with a bigger wire isn't going to GROUND it which was the entire point of the exercise ... thereby missing the point ... have I made that clear yet? ... about the total missage of point? ... lemme put a target on the point ... I'm good at that ;oD

i meant to say replacing ALL wires with bigger wires?? alt. to battery ground chasis to battery and such? will that help out a bit if i were to replace all the wires? sorry kinda confused on why to keep the existing wire and adding bigger wire.
