Oh no dude you got it all wrong. The European equivalents of Chevy, Dodge and Ford are Opel (Which is owned by GM and called Vauxhall in UK, which are actually rebadged as Saturns in the US), Seat, Volkswagen, and Ford (which sucks in Europe even more than here). BMW, Mercedes and Audi are top brands and especially with all the taxes over there hella expensive.
Yes they use them for taxi cabs because taxis in Europe are expensive and supposed to be luxury rides, not near death experiences
The only reason why someone would put down €60k for a car is the "grass is greener on the other side"-effect, American cars are a novelty and basically "exotics" in Europe, so if you want to have it you need to show the doe, and for the longest time it was difficult to import them because the European emissions standards were too tight (until we caught up), which is why you'll never see some '67 Impala over there
