I recently bought a 2011 Altima - 2.5S Special Edition. It has the stock (not Bose) stereo. I have a few questions about it. Any input is appreciated.

1. Seems like often the right front dash speaker is louder than the other front speakers. If I adjust the balance/fader full left and right/front and rear then zero everything back out it sounds about right for a while. Has Nissan offset the balance so you don't hear primarily the left front speaker or do I have a stereo/speaker issue?

2. Roughly how far should I be able to turn this stereo up without distortion? The right front speaker gets "crackly" on midrange if cranked up to about 25. No base distortion is heard at all.

I bought it from CarMax and bought their warranty which also covers speakers but want some input before taking it back into them for this. Like if there are known issues with the stereo or speakers, etc. I can see where this could turn into one of those "we can't hear the issues that you mention" issues.

Thanks!

:welcome: to NICO Mike!

I don't have any specific for you, but it is interesting that the distortion issue and the loudness issue is coming from the same speaker.

If you're into DIY, it might be worth pulling that speaker to see if there's anything obviously wrong with it. Your service manual (available at http://www.nissanservicemanual.com ) will help you get access to it.

Good luck!

Thanks and I appreciate the link to the service manuals. As it's under warranty I'm going to let CarMax look at it this Wednesday.
