well quite a happy saturday it's been. it started out with me going to change out the bad alternator on my 89 single cam 240. so I changed out the bad one with the good one which was verified at napa and shucks to be good. but after lifting the car and getting this replacement done I turn on the car and my brake light and the battery light blink in slow unison. thinking or hoping that it would go away if I drove it for awhile didn't work but the lights turned steady. but when I stopped they started blinking again. so I hook up my handy dandy multimeter to a dc voltage of 11.97 at idle. I rev up the engine and she stays at 11.97. I believe that it's supose to be at 13vdc or so. so any help in what you guys think the problem could be would sure help.

Howdy,

I'm having exactly the same problem. Did you ever get a resolution?

Thanks,Bob

I had the exact problem on a maxima, I even got the same voltage readings. If I shut it off and restarted I could get 11.9 or 14.5. The problem is a bad diode in the alternator. I went through a few alts in a month from pep boys before getting a Nissan rebuilt from a dealer.
