Figured I'd post some pics. I got really lucky with this engine hoist, bought it from my neighbor for $22 and its a 2 ton hoist! :chuckle:

Got her hooked up after i loosened all the mounts

Here's my buddy zack helping me guide it out. We did hook the chains to the exhaust mani's, I'm sure this isn't the "right" way to do it but they're cast iron and its worked for all the other engine pulls we've done for everyone.

This is the awesome thing with this hoist, it still had another 3-4 feet it could go up. We had only used about half of the lifting capacity of the up and down.

EMPTY ENGINE BAY! This is before I pulled the harness, which is a PITA. I also degreased the engine bay and got all the PS fluid and oil off everything. The next time someone pulls their harness i suggest they just go ahead and get the crowbar out and pry the firewall hole out bigger and there's a metal plate of something-or-another at the back of the hole that the harness sits between that needs to be bent out of the way. I'll get pics of that when it quits raining.

You can also see the transmission fluid that went everywhere on my driveway :tisk: I made the mistake of forgetting about that. It was dark brown and looked slightly burnt, hopefully that trans isn't toasted but if it is I'll just get it rebuilt.

This is where I'm at now. My new harness and 60k timing kit should be here Wednesday or Thursday so I plan to have my running engine out and throttle body coolant bypass done (I think all I need to do is cap off the coolant lines that run under the plenum and remove the assembly they attach to??) when all my new parts get here.

Yeah, I've always lifted from the manifolds as well. As long as there isn't too much rust it'll be fine.

Yeah, they looked pretty good to me. I started on the second engine pull tonight and got a lot done. Wiring, PS, Radiator, intake piping, downpipes and clutch stuff are completely disconnected. I'll finish tomorrow or Wednesday, with work and stuff tomorrow I'm not sure how much I'll have done.

Well, conceptZ just screwed me really hard. I ordered my parts on THURSDAY of last week. I just now was emailed a shipping receipt by UPS and the projected arrival date will be the 18th. I start school back on the Tuesday. I will be giving them a call in the morning to see what in the flying **** is going on and why the hell they lied and said that it'd be here no later then Thursday of this week. I am passed furious at this point, I expect they can change the shipping to 2 day or overnight or something.

Well, conceptZ is stepping up to remedy this f up of theirs. Apparently the upgraded water pumps were on back order and that's why my order didn't ship when they said it would. So they're resending out another order of the same stuff on priority shipping to get it here hopefully Friday. I'm fairly pleased with the customer support so far, I just wish that they would've called me or contacted me by email to let me know the stuff was on back order so I could have got them to fix this sooner seeing as my daily is engineless now. Oh well, next update should be install of the timing kit and new wiring harness :ohnoes2

Well, I've been slacking on keeping my post up on this. The motor is in, running great. I've been working the kinks out and hoping to have everything perfect in the next day or two. New wiring harness is awesome, doing the timing is a PITA, our motor mounts are a pain to switch out after the engine is in.. Long story short the snapped when I tried to bolt them up. The slick top is sexy, I miss ttops though. Hopefully ill have my original car fixed and running eventually. I didn't have time to take many pics of it all though. I was working on the swap mostly at night and pics didn't turn out good. Just got the car tagged, titled and retest reed in my name too! Stoked about tearing up the roads in a z again!

Thanks! The suspension on the slicktop is basically shot, its bouncy as hell so i have a few projects left to have it perfect. Eventually I will be swapping my shocks from the ttop to the slicktop. The interior is the gray tweed, which is not my favorite, so i think I might be switching my black leather over from the ttop. The dash is wrinkling up at the defrost vents so I will be swapping my dash over from the ttop. Also the steering wheel is the larger one with doesn't have the cruise controls on the steering wheel, it's on the lever behind the steering wheel. So I plan on getting a new one with the controls on the steering wheel itself. I already traded the chrome wheels for the stock silver wheels, which I think looks better with the CRP. All of that except the suspension is bearable until summer when I'm out of school so most of that will wait till then. I'll be fixing the suspension pretty soon cause it rides like dump right now. Though I'm kinda burnt out on working on it since it took almost a full week to get running, so it may be a bit until I start working on it again. :badger
