Just picked this up yesterday. 96 zx-6 Ninja with 22,000 miles for $1,475 needs a few things like new shifter and rear brake peg and plastic body pieces have some cracks. But looks like a great starter bike for me so

I just need to get a new shifter with spring and new rear brake bracket because my rear brake is disabled right now. Does anyone know a good place to find these parts?

under 21 you need to take a 3 day course which is $150, over 21 need to take a writing test then a driving test.

Thanks for the concerns guys.

I want a starter bike for myself too. But I've been waiting to find a 'learning buddy' so I don't look stupid by myself. A friend of mine may be inheriting a pair of heavy bikes soon, so I may get my wish.

Good luck out there. Please don't pop wheelies at 150mph. Sounds silly, but I saw it happen, and I was going 135 as they flew past me on one wheel. Not cool looking. All I could think was: I'm going to have to fill out alot of paper work as a witness to their deaths.

Also a good choice gas wise. Bikes are becoming the commuter transport of choice in NJ lately.

Good bike for the price. BE CAREFUL!!!!

I don't ride anymore. Laid down a well built CBR 600 F2, at 60 mph. Rode it home, and never got on another bike. I had been riding for 6 years when I did that.

Sweet deal. Throw a Kerker 4/1 and some ignition, a rear sprocket with a few more teeth, and it'll be a monster.

I'm still learning about bikes, I'm getting good on it now, I took it for 10 laps around my condo complex and I was able to downshift to slow it (I got no rear brake lol) My buddy told me this is a fast a$$ bike, said it has like 105 hp. Since the body is cracked I'm going to try to bondo it then repaint the bike all red, just like I painted my rims and the rest of my G.

Thats not a bad deal, my first bike was a 96 Zx6R with 12K miles on it, in mint condition with no problems, and i paid $1,600.00 for it. Great bikes, and are a lot of fun, i would say it is the perfect starter bike. Mine was totaled after some lady hit me.

Both are great deals. I paid a little over $6k, back in 1993. She had less than 100 miles on her though.

If you add about 10 teeth to that rear sprocket, the gear ratio will change, as will the HP at the tire. Torque will be off the hook, and accelleration will be wicked.

FLA is full of little old ladys driving Slushmobiles by Cadillac that don't know how to drive!

And to beano... I don't think I could hold on to all that Power!
