Hello all. I have just bought a 97 Q45T with 105K miles. I have had it about 3 weeks and put on 500 miles. I have seen no major problems and really enjoy it.. Any advice on what problems to watch for or any prevention tips? Thanks in advance.

97-01 Qs are pretty reliable. Be sure and flush and fill every fluid, esp. the transmission (common failure item on 90-93 models, but can fail on any Q without frequent fluid changes).

Good idea to have the car inspected by a qualified mechanic. Preventative maintenance is the key to happy Q ownership.

Where do you live?

Hi, welcome to the club!

I have the same car, bought with 96K and didn't notice how put 1.5K already on it :) Check with Infiniti what services were done on your car. Known as very reliable auto but things wear... Suspension is probably worn by this mileage, so if you want ride like new think about changing struts, bushings etc.

The things I've done on my car: Mobil 1 oil change, new tires, new battery, double transmission flush with Mobil 1 ATF, new transmission oil strainer, alignment, BG1 injection system service. Thinking about new struts, Stillen tension rods (to be able adjust caster), performance brake rotors, etc. :)

Congrats on the Q. You're from my families neck of the woods. I have a bunch of relatives from Calabash/Shallotte, NC just across the border.

Congrats on the Q again! seems the '97+ crowd is growing here. Bought mine 1 1/2 years ago with 68K. Now has 114K with no major problems except replacing both knock sensors & an O2 sensor. Future maintenance items include flushing all fluids, Envirolution & BG services. I'm also looking to change out rotors. Has anyone seen the Brembo/Bradi rotors on Ebay? Any comments/advise/suggestions on those?

The 97 has bigger/thicher front and rear rotors than 90-96.

Don't think that any aftermarket will be better than oem......drilled fronts might make a 5-10% improvement especially in wet at the expense of some noise/groan.New Shocks will help more as they will resist the front dive, rears especially as the rebound [upwards] resistance has gone flat by now.............speeding up the front weight transfer.

Any chance that those would be an easy mod to the 90-96? Would the calipers bolt in, ABS sensors match up, etc?

No, not yet. Haven't set my mind, I might even go OEM way. Dennis' arguments sound reasonable.

I know, I had to turn mine after 10k on them but I'm VERY picky as most of us on this board are or we wouldn't waste our time yaking about our cars on a board like this. The only aftermarkets that really made my blood boil were the "Big Brakes" and they are like 3 grand, no way Jose will I get that past the big boss (ie., the wife). I'm probably going to have to turn mine every 10-12k to be totally happy them, I had brand new rotors at 42k when I bought the car so they should be good for a few more turns. If there was a good slotted or cross-drilled alternative I'd do it but it doesn't really look like there is one. Nissan (err Infiniti) should have put much bigger rotors on these cars.
