Just found this website, I love it! I just bought a 95 j30 2 months ago and very happy with it. Always been a huge fan of Nissan having owned a 89 240sx and 95 240sx preveisly. I've found a lot of all around great stuff here in the forums.

When she's cold she runs like a champ, but after 10 mins of running my J loses about 25% of her power. You have to spin her above 2700 rpm's to relly get anywere. I read earlyer that it mite be time for a tstat change and cool flush. Is there anychange else? I just unhooked my battery about a hour ago hoping to reset the ECU to see if anythig good comes out of it. What other things could I do fiddle around with to inprove proformance at little or no cost?I also wanted to mention that I recently bought a K&N drop in replacement air filter and drilled holes in the airbox . This produces a somewhat low "growling" noise under hard exceleration but added a bit more power through out the RPM range. I've done this with cars I've owned in the past and it has always helped increse power, or so it seemed just going by what I feel through the seat of my pants. What do you pro's think about this? Thanks for any and all feedback on this

Hello....... Welcome to NICO!!

Ill just go in order.....

Thats a normal sign for ill-maintenance...... Do a FULL flush and Tstat change...... Do a search, i remember posting something VERY detailed on how to lump those together......

When the engine starts getting hot, the computer starts retarding the timing (IE firing the spark plug sooner) to cool the engine...... And it does work, to some degree......

<assuming the Qs intake is the same idea as the J> THe intake system is VERY, VERY low restriction..... Plug those holes up <now> and put an OEM filter in..... You wont notice any better/worse performace with a NEW oem....... Their only $7 from Joe........

if the filter you took out was looking really bad, then putting in the K&N did help since its clean...... K&N is for crappy cars, and the J30 is not one of them!!!!

To help performance, you need to make sure everything in your intake tract is clean...... TB, plenum, etc...... Do a search, its all been covered.......!

If their clogged, youd be experiencing things MUCH worse than poor performance......
