I recently had the incredible fortune of adopting this super clean beauty a little over a week ago; I fell in love with the moment I sat in it! It is a NA 5 spd Manual, and, although my experience with working on cars is extremely limited, I am highly motivated about learning everything there is know about these cars and being able to work on mine myself. I plan on having it looked over by a professional and then work on things mysef as they come. I have questions concerning 2 things, 1: is the throwout bearing an easy/cheap fix? It is really noisy and stiff when cold but stops acting up more or less when warm. 2: What could cause power loss at low RPM. For example, if if i go hard on it and shift from mid-high RPMs to from second to third, for a few seconds It feels like it's being held down somewhat until it gets back up to 2600-3000 the it all of the sudden opens up again. Thanks for reading this and Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the club my man! As far as your throwout bearing goes, i'd either live with it the way it is or prepare a few hundred bux for the job. Not expensive parts wise but is somewhat expensive in labor as they have to drop your transmission. If you opt to get it done I would also go ahead and do the clutch also. Only issue with the noisy bearing ive ever run into was difficulty dropping it into reverse takes a couple tries to catch. Seems to be notorious for Nissan after so many miles. My Z, and all 3 240sx ive owned over the years had noise in the throwout.
Your power loss in the low end could be a number of different things unfortunately. But theres a TON of good information here that even a novice mechanic could do. I started out just like you about 6 years ago but through these forums and trial/error, ive taught myself enough mechanical knowledge to do most any job that doesnt need a lift or special tools. U CAN DO IT!!!
