They've had the technology for years. It's about time GM used it again.

My love for the GM High-Feature V6 is no secret. And I've been saying for ages that if GM just put a tiny bit of effort and brainpower into things, they'd realize that they'd have a 400+hp monster on their hands with a couple turbos. And I've been saying that the day GM put turbos on the HFV6 it would blow the pathetic EcoBoost V6 so far out of the water Ford won't know what hit them.

But the best part of the new TT 3.6? It's not going in a bunch of overweight, fat-assed, ugly, FWD, badge-engineered monstrosities (well...it is going in ONE of those). It's going into cars people WANT. Emm Kay WHAT? Suck it, Lincoln. If the brand wasn't doomed before, it sure as Hell is now. Caught in its own crosshairs.

It's expected that this engine will find a home as a pseudo-replacement for the Northstar in the XTS. But it may also end up in the ATS-V and will almost certainly weasel its way into the Camaro. I wouldn't be terribly offended if it became the base engine for the SS.

Let's compare, because I like making fun of failures-in-denial:

MKS: 365 hp. 350 ft-lb. 4500lb(!!!!!!!!). The most front-biased front-biased AWD ever conceived by man.
CTS: 420hp. 430 ft-lb. ~4000lb (estimate). Rear wheel drive.

Nobody's going to buy an MKS! Where are your Beck concerts now Lincoln?!

I've never been more proud to be a GM fanboy.

Now, let's see the return of the GN. We didn't keep Buick around for nothing. Alpha platform is BEGGING for some love from them. 2 doors, long nose, and wide tires in the back, and any color you like as long as it's black. Heck, bring back the T-type while you're at it, for people not looking for attention.

In the meantime, Nissan is sh*tting themselves while crying in a corner somewhere.

Sure. For twice the price of a CTS. And Nissan won't put it in anything else.

you mean other than the Juke R...? ;)

I kinda doubt Nissan's "crying in the corner" over it which was suggested. They seem more focused on keeping up with the increasingly higher federal gas mileage standards .

^^That's precisely what I was thinking. Assuming that they release it within the next couple of years, I'll seriously be considering a Grand National as my first new car purchase.

This is why many of us stick around on NICO long after our last datsun has left the garage. Many other car forums its drive and support what we endorse of GTFO. Nico is about the automotive experience... we hope to have it with a Nissan/Infiniti but we will take it from another brand too. Stay classy Nico.

No thanks. The "Evo rule" applies here. The Versa wouldn't be worth $50k if you strapped a pair of Merlin 1Ds to it. Cheap cars are cheap for a reason. Adding power doesn't make them worth more.

I think your right... got caught up in the moment. I <3 the Versa so the idea of a 500hp version is exciting but there are certainly cheaper and easier ways to get there than the GTR drive train.

I read online where folks were stuffing the Sentra 2.0 in replacing the 1.8.... hmm could be pretty exciting if you could also add a small turbo.... 4-6lbs?

The point I think you were making, or the one I got anyway, was that the Versa may be a limp wristed bland mobile but it would be an entirely different animal with the GTR drivetrain. It would remind me of the older GTiR actually.

I would pay 50k for a Versa done the right way with a GTR drivetrain.

I said I would but thought about it and nah I wouldn't I would pay 30k for one that could do sub 5 second runs though. 350-400 hp should get a Versa pretty deep into the 4's but how do you manage it all through the front wheels?

When I had my G the Infiniti dealership had a hatch and sedan as loaners along with the fleet of G37's. I loved getting a versa as a loaner car.

Which is why I said use the drivetrain, not just the motor. The GTiR is AWD, just the like "Your" Versa would have to be.

For $50k you could get a REAL car with that kind of drivetrain. In fact, $50k is right around what the 420hp CTS will likely cost.
Meanwhile, for $50k, the Versa still has torsion beams and macpherson struts.

If you can't fix the suspension for 50K, you're doing it wrong. We're talking about a vehicle that doesn't exist, nor will it, so lighten up.
