Hey everyone, my name is Randall and I recently purchased a 1991 240sx Base model! I've been trolling NICO articles for a while and I decided to join today! I've wanted an s13 ever since I was a little kid, so I am more than happy to finally owner one!

About the car:

Purchased it a few months ago. Had a misfire I cleared up with new plug wires and injectors. I can't tell you what I paid because it was such a good deal, you may just want to kill me!

It was an auto, but converted to manual with a new engine by the previous-previous owner. It runs well and has ZERO rust with an undercoating :D

I have no idea what mileage the engine/transmission have or what year they're from (is there a stamp somewhere on the block I can decode to figure it out?).

The engine seems good, but the transmission isn't perfect. It tends to occasionally grind into second and the pilot bearing is making a very slight noise.

I love the car to death and I can't wait to start making it mine!

The very nearest mods I intend to do is the 248/232 cam swap and the flexane motor mounts.

Thanks! Well, this wasn't meant to be my DD, I actually wanted to learn how to drift in it. That WAS the plan, until my poor lude spun a rod bearing :( pretty concerned the snow is going to now be an issue. Once my lude gets the h22 swap, I'm hoping for this to become a good drift car/ daily when I want to show its sexiness!

First things first; maintainence!
I already put new injectors and plug wires in but I still need to get:
NGK Iridiums
New cap and rotor
Hood release cable
Fuel door/trunk release cable
Hood
Kick panel fuse block
Carpet
Glove box
Valve cover gasket

I have all of this, but it's either time to replace it, or it doesn't fully operate.

As for modifications and fun accessories, I have an ever growing list!

248/232 cam swap
DIY Flexane motor mounts
Coilovers (not sure on the brand yet)
Helmet and bucket seat (I've heard the open diff loves smacking your head around)
Manual seat belt conversion
Pig nose lip
Header/downpipe/catalytic converter upgrade (already have a new 3" catback installed)
Spare welded diff (eventually :D)
Oil cooler

There's so much more, but I can't think of anything right now.

I really want to get it back to running good and stock before I modify. I do things right!

Oh, and hate if you want, but I'm thinkin' KA-T in the future ;D

This forum isn't as lively as I thought it was going to be. Oh well, still a great forum!

should k24 the prelude :D

240 looks pretty good. after maintenance you should go for coil overs. then weld the diff and have fun! but don't smash it if its a "clean" 240. they're hard to come by

Welcome!
Thanks! I'm glad to be a part of the forum!

I'm not asking to be spoon fed, but are there any good and cheap DIY's on here that are maybe not so well known that any of you guys would strongly recommend? Maybe some I haven't ran across?

Any help is appreciated.

What type of DIY's are you looking for?
Most DIY's you can just google yourself.

Everything seems awesome. Just ditch those wheels, with some spirited driving they can become dangerous.... There really not meant to be beat on I've had really bad luck out of them on the back of my car.

I'm not saying yours will mess up in a day or even the next 6 months. But if you plan to slide and put a welded rear end in your car they will work themselves loose very quick with all the extra stress. Like less than 100 miles after being impacted on quick.

i think maintenance is one thing that is never fully completed with 240s. theres always something. but its a good excuse to upgrade!

good luck with the car!

Working on the photos. Sorry about the delay, I've been swamped with school lately.

As for the DIY's, the problem isn't I cannot find them, the problem is I don't know what I'm searching for. As in, I'm not familiar with the common DIY's in the world of the 240 :)

I know of the flexane motor mounts and exhaust cam swap. Although, I'm quite confused with the cam swap. Too much contradictory information from Google.

For the rim post, I know sliding in these would be dangerous. Cast aluminum/magnesium isn't known for its tensile strength, lol. These are my daily rims. I have some steelies that came with the car for drifting.

My biggest issue with learning is the lack of locations I can use. Can't do it illegally. Street drifting endangers others and if I get caught in a parking lot, I'll get a ticket I can't afford and possibly lose my license.

I'm not a photographer by any means, but I figured this would get the idea out there :) Enjoy!
