Hello everyone my name is Austin and I live in Austin, TX (going back to Phx in a few months). I just picked up a 1995 SE, shaved spolier and emblems and Isuzu Gold metallic paint. Heres a few pics:

I paid $6k for it. Its got 120k on it and it runs great. Compression suprised me a little as it was pretty high (so it seemed) at about 220-230 across the board (carbon buildup I guess). However it runs pretty good, lil stumble but I think Ill just fix it with some new ign. crap this week. No LSD though :(

ANyhow I am not new to em, had a 91' SE w/BPU SR in it 250hp/250trq to the wheels. However I still have some questions that may sound silly.

1) I bought the SS lines, brembo X and pads from heavy throttle for my s13 and I was pleased with them. I also did a 300zx junkyard on my buddies 91 hatch and it looks/brakes well. My questions are what shoudl i do? My rotors are fugged in front so Ill need new ones and the rear are pretty worn but MAY be salvagable. I am not sure if I shoudl just do what I did before and get the Brembo X drille, lines and pads from heavy thorttle (any where else cheaper), or go with the Z's up front and X in teh back or what..... What do you guys think works well on these cars aside from a huge upgrade? Do the Z32's really make much difference?

2) I have read over 50 threads on Teins (i know I have no life) and am still a little distrught. I want a somewhat tame settup. Baically what I got was that the flex's are a little on the "weak" side and the HE's are dope but little on the "stiff" side.... Is there anythign in between or shoudl I man the hell up and just get the HE's?

3) my s13 wasnt like this, but the rear diff fill plug ins quite hard to get to. I tried pushign the exhasut out of the way to get to it but no go. I guess the only thing that would make sense is to drop the exhaust to do it? Am i correct? I just want to D/F the diff :p

4) lastly; I bought a JDM VLSD for my s13 and am conteplating gettign another. I have rode in my friends kaaz 2way and dont think i want to go that route either. ANything in teh middle? I would like a little more snappyness perhaps, and to not cost me $800+

Anyhow thanks for looking/reading or laughing at. Glad to be on the boards finally,

Austin

mmmm... 5-lug.. :)

Very sexy color too. Rare too I think. I haven't seen a s14 with that color before..

1) I believe the z32 swap is overkill unless you have some sticky meats to hold the car down. It looks very nice though.

2) If you really want coilovers, Teins are the most popular brand, but don't underestimate the power of a good spring/strut combo. Others will have more input than me on this topic.

3) I'm sorry. I can't help you there. :(

4) There are a few options that you can go with if you want an lsd. You may be aware that you can swap in a z32, j30, or s13/s14 vlsd with little or no mods. That's the best alternative to a powerful clutch-type lsd.

Welcome to NICO! :D

Thanks guys! I lik the color a lot myself; as well as teh fact i havent seen it on another 240.

I know I can swap teh VLSD's and what not but i was just curious abtou other options above that. VLSD's tend to wear out and you dont know what you are really gettgin when swpaping in IMO Mine worked pretty well on the s13 but so i guess maybe I should just go for it again.

i've heard of 1.5 lsds. I don't know, but I think nismo or quaife makes them. Another route is to drop a helical lsd from an s15, which seems to a very good option.

the zbrakes are a huge improvement over stock, especially coupled with good pads,SS lines and new fluid. as far as rotors, just get some autozone crappers(z32) with a lifetime warrenty and replace them for free when you tear them up. i doubt your going to see any fade with them and the big brakes.

the S15 helical LSD is a good option for a diff i have one and so far i'm very pleased. feels better than the z32 diff i used to have.

Banging bro. But as for the Tein Coilover choices, Tein Flex spring rates are 5/4 and Tein HE are 8/6 and from the list at zilvia.net, Tein HA seems a good fit for being an inbetween at 6/5. Don't quote me and I could be totally wrong. Here's the list:

If you want a real good street coilover, i have heard the apexi world sport kit is a really good choice.

Fugg it I just assume go with the HE's. I can always get a little lower spring if I really cant deal.

Yes I also found out they are 8/6 and I think that will be ok. I had 6/4 in my s13 and it was rough but I wouldnt mind going stiffer....

Thanks got everyones help and comments! Now I just need to find where to get a s15 LSD and how they bolt up.... :ylsuper

Oh and PS- J-sepc tuner: you should hook me up with a deal on a brake package sine Ive spent thousands with you already on teh SR/LSD/FMIC/hotpipe/exhaust...etc What do you say? :D

Sweet ride man - sorry to interrupt.. I really like that color but dont see it listed by the name you gave as a factory available color. Granted i could be dumb and its just a repaint of an isuzu color but if not whats the color code?
