I did a search and found nothing on the subject so I feel i should ask. I used to own a 1992 240SX SE and I must say looking back it was the best car I've owned (but i wrecked it :(). I currently own an NA 1991 300ZX and it's been giving me problems and it's about that time invest in a new (or at least newer car) that is cheaper all around (gas, insurance, repairs). Plus Zs of those years have no aftermarket, not fun. I was hoping someone might know if Nissan plans to release another 240 or Silvia in the states again like they plan to with the Skyline? I find it odd that they don't have one since their current lineup lacks a sport coupe. Most other companies have one (Celica, tC, Si, RSX, Tiburon, SRT-4, Focus, GTI, etc...) and the Sentra SE-R just don't cut it. I'd love to stick with Nissan, but they've got nothing to offer (350Z is out of the budget). So any news? Suggestions?

They won't build anything RWD sporty to undercut sales of the Z and G35.

I'd say he's done a good job, with the advent of the 350Z, 3.5Altima, 3.5Max, '05Xterra will kick major arse, FX is touted as the sports car in SUV clothing, Titan got good press by winning best truck of the year from some magazine, G35 coupe and 4wd sedan are hits, new M45 will make waves...

i never said he did a bad job. i've been very pleased with how the company is being run currently. but it would be nice to have a low cost RWD sports car again.

$26k base price is today's low cost. :(

Hell a new 2.5Altima w/cloth is $22k :(

Which is why you see '84 720 listed in my profile.. :(

still, i'd like to see a rwd platform from nissan that's low cost. I wouldn't consider the Z to be a low cost vehicle, due to after the "options" you end up with 30K plus before you even get to trim levels.

While the altima is 22k, you can pick up Lancer OZ's and Lancer Ralliarts for around 18k or 19k. That's after options are added in.

The problem I have with the altima is that it's FWD. With the exception of the Z and the G35, most of nissan's sportier offerings are FWD. I think they should enter the market of entry level RWD cars. They could make it be like what the Miata is to the RX-8. Low cost, low power, but fun and nimble.

Everybody would like to see a rwd platform from Nissan that's low cost.

Miata pricing might not be a good example:Base(MSRP) $21,868

LS $24,673

MAZDASPEED $25,500

i was merely meaning the miata's relationship to the RX-8.

besides, with inflation, the base price of cars has increased to the high teens/low 20's. In '92, my car was 22,000. So with inflation, we're looking in the low 20's now.

Yea that too. There are plenty of morons selling mcs14 5spds on ebay. Please feel free to buy any of those, because those are the rarest 240's ever produced and need to be owned by someone who will appreciate them.

Well, that sucks. If no 240 then Nissan should take the SR25de from the SE-R and stick it in a nicer, sportier car, even if it is a FWD. It'll never be a 240, but it certainly would be cool. Nissan really needs a car competes with the Si, Celica, Eclipse and so on. I'm not too keen on the 96-98 240s... those taillights they have make them so ugly (Nissan with their always awesome fronts and ugly rears!). I'd get another s13, but i really would like something newer :crybaby

its QR25DE, and its not that great of a motor. it seems nissans latest motors are pretty maxed out. you can get stuff for them to make more power, but they seem to be already fully tuned, even with some of the more advanced bolt-ons. and the SER is what nissan made to compete with the Si, Celica, etc. its not not that good of a competitor.

what the hell is a SR25de?A new stroker kit or what?I think you mean QR25 and thats precisely the crap the S chassis doesnt need (see earlier post ^). Especially b/c the recalls with the Catalytic and it sounds ****ty and sucks.

Yeah, QR25. I didn't hear about any problems with the engine. And yes the 96-98 240s may look good from most angles... but that back alone ruins the rest. It makes it look like that ugly Infinti... J30? That one with the rounded *** with that straight across taillights. Bah...sorry it's just ugly as *****. I don't expect anyone to agree being on a 240 message board, but eh. Too bad they fixed that problem with the Silvia afterward that we never got.

Oh you mean the s15, right?Kinda looks more exotic than the rest of the Silvias, doesnt it? But i dont like the s15's front so we are even.

I wish the engineers would have found a way to put VTC in with the high port intake, then it woulda had even more punch to it.
