i recently finished up a rb20 swap into a s13
the car will not rev high and boost, sounded as if it was misfire.
I replaced everything else
Maf tried n60, and n62, and oem
changed plugs to iridiums
NO boost leaks

compression is 150-154 in all 6
ran code on ecu, came up as 34 54

so i tried to bypass with 1k ohm resistors
( i know bad but wanted to see)
ran a little better but not how it should, still has a misfire and still shows code 34
Do i have to drive for awhile or 34 codes go away asap?
what else could be making it run like that

I had a problem like that, the smoother i was with the throttle the higher I could rev. Other then that it sounded like a 2 step.

It ended up being the Z32 I paid $75 for. I pulled one from picknpull for $5 and fixed my problem.

Wow I can't believe I missed that, I meant ignitor. My swap was all stock back then.

I paid way too much for a Z32 ignitor and pigtails since there weren't any around here in junkyards, and then when I was having the missfire problem, J30s started popping up. Which have the same maf/ecu/ignitor etc etc. So I got another ignitor for $5.

Because of the way it acted I thought it was a maf. Smoother rpm meant higher until miss fired. But really it was that ignitor dropping or crossing signals.

Check your coilpacks to make sure the protective coating on them is intact. If it isn't, wrap those bastards in electrical tape to make sure you are getting good spark.

I would check for spark first. RB's are known for coil pack issues as they get old and crack and the coil pack will gap to the head insead of providing a strong spark.
