New 2014 Door Chime when car is off?

I've had my 2014 Rogue for 4 days and I've noticed that when I turn the car off and open the driver door, the door chime warning is displayed on the driver info screen and the triple beep chime dings until I close the door. This does not happen when the I open the driver door if the car is in ACC (radio on, etc.). Is that fixable, how it's supposed to be, or a happy accident so I can listen to the radio with the door open without having to deal with the chime??

Mine seems to behave in a similar way, but it doesn't do the door chime if I have it on auto headlights.

Start with p.92 Instruments and Controls, section 2-17. Manual doesn't go into a lot of detail, but you should be able to figure it out.
