Hello all!

First, would like to thank all of you for the wealth of information on this site. When I was looking at the used versions, I went armed with alot of things to look for...oh, and the seatbelt issue.

Then I decided to go with 2012. Picked it up today and before leaving the lot, noticed there was alot of play in the driver headrest. The sales guy tried to play it off as "operating as engineered", and if that was the case, all the other headrests on the lot were defective. The service manager agreed with me. I went ahead and left with the car as my dissatisfaction with the Mercedes rental was at peak and the dealer didn't have any loaners in...AND the convertible guy wasn't there. I'll take it back in a few days to trade for a loaner so they can figure it out.

So, while I wait for all that to happen, I'll ask...has anyone had any exposure to flimsy headrests?

Vibrant Red with wheat. Fabulous color combo.

The sales guy called today. They had a sales meeting and got updates about things to look for on the car...

1. The trunk will torque easily if closed with uneven force - so always close from the middle or with both hands.

2. The First Aid Kit in the trunk will bust the glass if it's in the wrong spot.

Also, he's lined up a loaner and we'll drop it off this week. We'll see what comes out of that...

The headrests should move front to rear as it's part of the active restraint system. Obviously they should not flop all over.

Hello! Nice color combo. Can you share some pics when you get the car back? I've for VR and graphite.

What was the result of your headrest issue? I just bought a 2011 G37 vert and my headrest for the driverside is loose (it jiggles a bit back and forth)...

I had an infiniti dealership take a quick look at it, but they said it would not be under warranty. They are taking a deeper look this weekend...

Any help on this issue is much appreciated...

Justin

Your car is still under warranty and headrest is safety issue, Call Infiniti Consumer Affairs.

Car sales staff actually get paid on net sales. Meaning their commissions get reduced whenever a car they sale needs work done on it within the 30 day warranty period. Hence, it behooves a sales person to "ignore" issues like a headrest that has excessive play. :gapteeth:
