Although no big exterior changes, I think it does look better than the current model which to me looked just horrible. Based on the specs and reliability the CRV was my No. 1 choice in 2008, but I just couldn't do it, so I bought the Rogue and have gladly sacrificed a little bit of interior space and perhaps a little bit of build quality to get a better peforming and better looking Nissan Rogue.
The shocker for me is that Honda reports that the powertrain will remain unchanged from the current offering, which is a basic 4-cylinder (I belive 2.4L) with 5-spd auto that has never gotten rave reviews but could be summed up as "average in every respect". With competitors really upping the ante in the powertrain department, I can't believe that buyers will be too impressed without a modern next-gen 4-cylinder with direct injection, possibly a small turbo and definately a 6-spd auto. Basically buyers want a refined powertrain with small displacement but big performance numbers and amazing fuel efficiency. Competitor offerings are making this a reality, if Honda can't manage to keep pace the CRV will lose a lot of market share I think.
The new RAV4 is due out next year too, things will again be very interesting to see if the perennial leaders Toyota and Honda can stand with the big up and comers from Hyunda, Kia, Mazda, Ford, GM and Nissan.......buy hey, lets be honest, what we all really want to know is HOW AWESOME WILL THE NEXT GENERATION NISSAN ROGUE BE NEXT YEAR??!! Looking forward to reporting on the new Rogue soon.......
