New 2010 EX35

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I've had my EX35 for two weeks now. Really love its looks, the power, the interior, on, and on, and on...but I do have a couple of questions for you all. I want to make sure I fix any problems while it's still under warranty.

1. How "tight" should the steering be? I feel that there's just a little "play" in the steering when driving straight on the highway.
2. How sensitive is your gas pedal? I find the pedal requires quite some push to get into the power range (whereas my previous Mazda appeared to be far more sensitive to the touch - mind you it was a stick shift).

Thanks much,
Lorenzo

Welcome to the Forum.

Quit comparing it to your old Car.

The Steering isn't loose... it's different than your Mazda.

The Gas Pedal isn't stiff... Infiniti just doesn't want you to break your neck when you mash the gas.

Welcome to both of you!!
lorenzof - do you have an AWD or a RWD? I love the steering feel in my RWD, effortless but with feedback. Really love it.
The gas pedal thing is just something to get used to. Was your Mazda a drive by wire system? I guarantee that if you hit both of them at 50%, your head would be thrown back quite a bit more in your new ride than your old one.

On the gas pedal issue. It could be that the car has "learned" the previous owner's driving habits. Does it do the same thing in the DS mode?

Thanks for all the responses.

The gas pedal seems to be the same in DS mode. Perhaps the first poster is right - I should stop comparing with my old car. If I stomp the pedal, the car goes like stink. If I don't, I can drive through the city in total comfort.

That said, coming from nearly 16 years of driving cars with standard transmissions, I definitely feel more at home with the way the car shifts gears in DS mode. Other than snowy/slippery weather, I really prefer keeping it there. I definitely didn't buy the car for its fuel economy anyway - I bought its style *and* access to power. :-)

Thanks all,
Lorenzo

My wife has the EX35 2010 and I have EX37 2013.....you are correct re the gas pedal, it seems sticky comparing to theEX37.
No issues with the steering....you may have a tire issue ??

Also, must let you know if you like the EX35 you will love the EX37 !!
Amazing difference in power, transmission is great ( 7 speed ) and biggest surprise are the stock Bridgestone EL42.
Could not get the new Bridgestones till May and salesman talked me into trying the stock tires.

I have been driving for 50 yrs ( all new cars ) and the EX37 is the first car I have not taken back to the dealer for something
Perhaps I got lucky with this one....have 4200 km and drove in Ontario winter !

We currently have both an EX35 and a Mazda at home. Having previously come from a BMW 3-series I have to admit that the Mazda does have my favorite steering. While it is not as "heavy" as the Infiniti or BMW it is extremely crisp with immediate turn-in and excellent feedback. Its probably a combination of small diameter steering wheel, quick ratio, and direct hydraulic linkage. The Infiniti steering is good but if you're used to the go-kart like feeling of the Mazda it will feel different. Same goes for the throttle, when I switch cars from the Infiniti to the Mazda I tend to over-rev and over-brake because the Mazda is more twitchy. You'll get used to it if its your primary ride.
