G 37 has 12k and loaded with Nave as well as the new Altima. Both are cash deals. Both are auto with NAV

Both same price.. Infiniti dealer is 80 miles away however for warranty work, insurance is $300 more a year for the Infiniti,

BUT the infinity has already tale the big depreciation hit and a new Altima has not.....

What do you guy think for this 50 year old

g37, unless

you need more space in the back (3 seats vs 2, and a little more roomy in the AC) or you've got no intention of drifting or tracking the car.

Altima has a more compliant suspension and is more stable in aggressive driving (read under steers more). Also for the winter the altima is a better choice with its fwd than the g.

mostly depends on what you want to do with you car and which you think is the prettiest

Dollar for dollar, I'd take the G37.

Your local Nissan dealer should be able to handle the warranty work no porblem. After all, it is just a 4 seat version of the 370Z ( more less)

I have no intention of "drifting" or racing the car. That was 25 years ago for me, LOL I Just want a fun daily driver and car to take on trips thought the hills of the southeast.

We already have the four door SUV so a two door "non midlife crisis look" is what I want. The Altima fits the bill. Genesis does not, Covette not, BMW has fuel pump issues, The G37 is a nice car and next to the Lexus depreciates the least in the premium car category......

The ride was more mushy then even the 08 the 3.5SE Altima which handled far better (as if on rails, no body dip at all) I was more impressed with the Altima to tell you the truth from a "driving" standpoint. From a creature comfor standpoint the G37 was the winner......I also hate "status revealinig monikers" especially when so many are suffering. With the Altima no none would know its even paid off...LOL.

The dealer being in Charleston is another issue as I don;t want to have to give up a day to drive there and another to pick up the car should it need warranty work

Nissan tells me they can not do warranty work on an Infiniti even though they have three of them (one with 4K miles) on their used car lot......

Thanks for your opinions.....

The Altima is a great car no doubt, and I applaud the humbleness you convey in straying away from the "status" the Infiniti might create. But at the same time @ 50yrs old nobody would look at you behind the wheel of the G and think your spoiled. The opposite in my opinion... that you worked hard for your money and made smart choices with it. If you were 20-35 then people would think status, @50 I personally would think you are rewarding yourself while staying reasonable about the amount your spending ( not getting a vette or M3 etc). To me at least, Lexus, BMW, & Mercedes all carry more "status" than Infiniti does.

But if you still choose the Altima we here are Racingline are more than ready to help you make it even more enjoyable to drive

Good luck on your choice

Thank you for that insightful response. I agree MB and BMW and maybe even Lexus reek of pretension although all great cars (or "automobiles" LOL)....i The Infiniti not as much. But coming from an ecotech HHR (albeit loaded LOL) even the 2.5s Altima seemed like a rocket ship. Either way whatever I buy will remain stock,

I don't know .....maybe a Honda Coupe is more appropriate fro my age.. I was considering the G37 because the depreciation is less being already a couple years old...hmmmmm

The Infinit

You may also want to check with another Nissan dealer regarding the warranty work. I've never had a warranty issue - but i regularly have my G serviced at a Nissan Dealer.

As for the prestige - why do you care what people think - you should be proud that you bought the G for Altima money. Besides the G is a nice car but it is still considered entry level luxury or near luxury class. There are many cars that get more status than the G and other cars in its segment.

Since you mentioned the Honda Accord - you should test drive that car as well. Then make your decision.

YEah the Accord Coupe is a sleeper. Im not sure I like the . whole riding on three cylinders thing and the coupe is 191 INCHES LONG!!!!

The more I see the 3,5SE the more it LOOKS like the INfiniti and vice versa. Engines are the same I think. The tech option is not the same.

My Nissan dealer is not budging from $37K for a used Journey though and I was quoted that on a new 09 from Infniti interest sales which is in line with CarsDirect. I just cannot see spending $8G more for the Infiniti over a new Altima couple loaded. .
