Hello!

Yep, I'm a new owner and have been looking around several websites and forums for everything G37. I just sold my 2004 Acura TL (6MT w/navi) which I had since new. I've had the G for about a month now and really love it!!!

At this point, I'd like to find out any negative issues with the G37 so I can get those taken care of ASAP. Are there any technical service bulletins (TSBs) out yet? What about recalls?

A couple odd things about the car that I've noticed so far... 1) The alarm is pretty sensitive. We had some major t-storms here last week and it kept going off. 2) The front seat headrests rock back and forth. What's up with that?

Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Thanks all!

Mike

Welcome!

I have not had any issues with my headrests. My '08 had a TSB on the brakes, I'm not sure if that affected the '09. I got new pads free.

When I first got my car, I didn't like the way it downshifted then bogged when I got ready to take off. Manually shifting it "trained" it and it doesn't bother me any more.

Other than that.....the paint sux. Be very careful. It scratches and pecks very easy.

You will grow to love your G and this website.

Thanks. The headrests are strange, whether they are up or down I can rock them back and forth with my hand. My G is black and I can already tell it's going to be a nightmare. But, it was the only new G37-S in the region so I went for it. I've also noticed the downshifting issue you mentioned. I will try your suggestion and see how that works.

Here are some pics.

Nice! I love paddle shifting.. I dislike my front driver and passenger seatbelts. They are to close to the door. But I got the coupe.. don't know about the sedan..

I am still trying to get use to the paddles. I had the sportshift on my '01 Acura and never cared much for it...that's why I went with the 6MT on my '04 Acura. I definitely got tired of the manual after 6 years though. LOL

My seatbelts are close as well. Same goes for the seat adjust controls. When I am wearing my big watch it's a tight fit to get my hand down there to make changes. But, I don't have to very often so no biggie.

Thanks! I seriously thought about the coupe...for like 5 mins.

I would only buy a coupe if I had another, larger vehicle. But, my other ride is a motorcycle.

Mine is a broom.

Thank goodness my Hubby isn't a car nut. He has a big ole 4dr Ford F150. I have always been able to have a sports car. He is good to me like that. That is why I have kept him around for 28 years.

Welcome to NICO

Don't worry about headrest movement. They are designed to move forward during impact. During a rear-end crash, as your body is pressed into the seat it will cause the headrest to move forward. They are designed to move.

Fortunately, the G is garage kept while at home and work. However, it was outside for about 3 weeks while I was waiting to get my Acura sold.

Welcome aboard and congrats on the new toy!

She sure is purty!

Not sure if you've ever owned a black car before.

As mentioned..the paint is not exactly the best, you may want to consider a clear bra to protect her from chips. It could very well be worth the investment.

We have a detailing forum if your looking for some pointers.

My suggestion is to DEFINITELY invest in a decent chamois!!

Oh clean those shoes too!

The tint is 30% all around. That is the max allowed, for the fronts, in Texas.

Yep, I had a black Camaro for 9 years...back in the day. After I sold it I swore I would never get another black car. Well, I guess I was mistaken.

I asked the dealer about adding the 3M clear bra just on the front plastic and they said it would run me about $300. Does that sound right? Seems kind of expensive.

If they do 3M for the whole front for $300 then you are getting a deal (sounds to me like that just covers the bumper). I paid over $700 (up to $900 with install....I don't remember at the moment) for the nose, hood, fenders and side-view mirrors.

Wow, that is pretty expensive. I need to do some research on it before I spend that kind of $$$. Also, I'm not real keen on how it looks on the hood portion.

You'll dislike the heavy chip marks more...

The bra is barely noticeable.
