I just bought a 2008 M35s with Technology package, i have two questions that i hope the people on this site may be able to answer..

1. Is there a way to have the doors lock automatically after you start driving or when the car is placed into Drive? This is a setting on my Mercedes and something my wife really wants on this car.2. How do i tune my XM radio? I have it activated and setup yet i cannot get to any stations except 1, 8, and a few others.. is there a way to tune to say channel 100?

Thank you

Congrats on your purchase and welcome to the forum!

I believe you can set the doors to Lock automatically when the car is placed Drive or Reverse, but it is something that a Tech has to program it is not accessible to the owner through the electronics interface. Typically there is a charge for this unless you have a cool service manager.

If your vehicle is new, you should have gotten 3 months free XM radio with it. When you called XM (or went online) and gave them the radio ID they should have added the subscription term to the end of the 3 month period. Also, once you call XM and register the radio you must either immediately go for a little joy ride or let the car sit out in the open with a clear view of the sky in the ACC or ON mode and the radio on and set to SAT. The radio needs to receive an activation code from the XM satellite. This can take up to 90 minutes. If you miss the code.... then you have to call XM and have them re-send it and repeat the steps above. When the radio is activated you should have about 160 channels available to you.

Hope this helps.

really? about the door locking? Does it work on 06?I would love to have it done... what should I ask for @ dealership?

Also on the XM... don't get sucker into the 1 year subscription, they might not be around much longer. I'm on the quarterly plan.

I've been an XM subscriber since shortly after they began broadcasting They won't be going away, they have too much in assets and they have investors with deep pockets. One good thing though.. If you make them think you're not going to renew they will offer you a year of service at 50% off or about $75 which is quite a deal.

As far as the locking goes, I think it applies to all Y50 vehicles, StevetheTech can verify. Just talk to your service manager and tell him you want your locks programmed to "Lock" when the vehicle is not in Park. The downside of this setting though is that if you stop to drop someone off or pick someone up, you have to put the car in Park before you can unlock the doors.

I would like to know more about the locking issue. I've been wondering about this for almost 2 weeks now.

The door lock button still works. Some people might just find it inconvenient to have to use. I had the tech perform this on my 2007 G35 Sedan.... and then I had him put it back the way it was. Originally I thought it would open the doors again when you put it back into Park, but this didn't seem to be the case. Since I usually drive by myself its just as easy for me to cliick the lock button once I'm in the car.

If the 2008 is like my 2009 you should be able to program the auto lock/unlock yourself.

From 3-5 & 3-6 of the owners manual:

AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS● All doors will be locked automatically whenthe vehicle speed reaches 15 MPH (24 km/h).● All doors will be unlocked automaticallywhen the ignition switch is pushed to theOFF position.

The automatic lock and unlock functions can bedeactivated or activated independently of eachother.

To deactivate or activate the automatic lock orunlock system, perform the following procedure:1. Close all doors.2. Push the ignition switch to the “ON”position.3. Do one of the following within 20 secondsof performing step 2:● To change AUTO UNLOCK settings: pushand hold the power door lock switch tothe position (UNLOCK) for morethan 5 seconds.● To change AUTO LOCK settings: push andhold the power door lock switch to theposition (LOCK) for more than 5seconds.4. When activated, the hazard indicator willflash twice. When deactivated, the hazardindicator will flash once.5. The ignition must be placed in the OFF andON position again between each settingchange.

Wow, just goes to show it pays to read the manual Do you have to stand on one foot and hop up and down while you peform this process as well? Just wonder why Infiniti just didn't put it as an option accessed from the "Settings" screen on the center console.

So xm works great now, the programming for door locks did not work. Is the 2009 that different from the 2008?

I tried the instructions provided by About Tree Fiddy on my 2008 this weekend and I couldn't get the locks to auto lock either... I will take a look in the manual, but I assume ATF copied them exactly, so I'm not sure. I do know if you take it in for service a Tech can set them to auto lock.

The auto door locking was a new feature introduced for the 2009 model year. It won't work for the previous year models.
