I want to delete an entry in the Phonebook. The system can not understand me speaking "delete" even in park w/ windows up.I've tried slight changes in speaking w/o success.

Any suggestions?

What happens when it can't understand "call" ?Seems like there should be a manual backup-mode or numbers as an alternative.Like: 1. Call 2. Phonebook

Numbers are easy to differentiate when spoken.Works and letters are not.

Not sure what to tell you...maybe you need to speak clearer? I don't have hands free, so I'm not much help.

Anyone else have issues?

You may need to train it.

Mine has trouble at times with the name 'Nick', instead tries to dial 'Kate'

What I found odd is that when it is goofing up, sometimes simply backing up and restarting it will now work fine. For example trying to call 'Nick' will sometimes always bring up 'Kate' regardless of how many times I try. Back out and then hit the steering wheel switch to start over and it sometimes will now magically 'fix' itself.

I don't have Nav so some of the "manual" selection features are not available.I have not found the "training" feature in the menus or in the quick reference.I have not looked in the larger owner manual yet.

Not sure without looking at the manual but it seemed to be under something like 'comfort and convienience'. I have the nav so maybe yours is different.

Checked with manual and the dealer, the voice recognition learning feature is only available with Nav. IOW, not available with Bluetooth w/o Nav.

That sucks.

I'll need to take it into dealer to see if they can do something.

Must have something to do with storage of the learning sequence. This sucks. My suggestions are to take it back and make sure it is actually functioning correctly and if necessary pay particular attention to the mic location and what seems to work best.

Maybe the dealer is incorrect as I found this under the non-navigation section of the online pdf manual:

SPEAKER ADAPTATION (SA) MODESpeaker Adaptation allows up to two out-ofdialect users to train the system to improverecognition accuracy. By repeating a number ofcommands, the users can create a voice modelof their own voice that is stored in the system. The system is capable of storing a differentspeaker adaptation model for memory A andmemory B.

Under the navigation section I found this:

SPEAKER ADAPTATION FUNCTIONThe voice recognition system has a function tolearn the user's voice for better voice recognitionperformance. The system can memorize thevoices of up to three persons.

I then went outside and got my actual manual out of the car (which matches up with the pdf). On page 4-92 it shows the first quote above. On page 4-115 it shows the second quote above. The first appears to apply to non-navigation equiped cars, the second to navigation equiped cars.

Without going back to your original post I am assuming yours is a U.S. version as both of these sections refer to the U.S.

Hope this may be of help.
