I have a brand new Nissan Max with 6k miles on it. My DTE indicator always gives me an idea of when I need to fill up. When I fill up, I only put in around 16.5 to 17 gallons of gas. Yet I'm supposed to have a 20 gallon tank? I get about 350 miles to a full tank of gas in the city. (Have yet to drive on the highway for any length of time)

350/16 = 20.5 mpg (which is pretty accurate)

Am I looking too much into this or do I really have a 20 gallon tank?

Everything I have ever read has indicated 20 gallons and approx 400+ miles in the city average.

Makes sense. Your DTE thingy wouldn't wait till your tank is completely empty before warning you. Bad for the pump. Even when I have driven with the low gas warning light on for 70 km in my car, I still have 4 or 5 litres left.
