About a month ago I picked up a 2005 Q45 with 28,000 miles on the clock. I had been looking for a decent Q for the past year and had no luck. Finally found one worth looking at, and turns out it was amazing. Car is like brand new. Owner was the service manager at a Nissan dealership so the car was well taken care of. Previous owner upgraded the rims to the 2008 M45 sport wheels and also added the spoiler. This really makes the car stand out. I have already put 3000 miles on the car. I had it serviced last week and 3 people at Infiniti asked how I got my hands on this car. They said they still have customers coming in looking for a newer Q45. The service advisor told me only like 1600 were sold in 2005? I previously only drove Lexus, with the exception of a Mercedes that was a nightmare. Just wanted to see if there is anything I should watch out for with this model and year? I was told the oil issued was fixed by 05, but not 100% sure.

Congrats on the car! Keep a WEEKLY check of oil level without fail. The oil burning problem WAS NEVER fixed, as evidenced by spending some time here on the M forums.....plenty of issues with oil burning and replacement engines on even newer { 06+} models....the M45 used the identical motor as your Q45, with plenty more sold and therefor feedback.

Congratulations and welcome! Please show us some pictures of your new baby.

BTW - Former Merc owner here as well -- though back in the 1980s.

I'm also new to Q ownership. I really like this club.

Very low mileage for an 05Q. The leather seat stitching is very nice in the 05&06Q and Navi is standard. Transmission flush is highly recommended (use Nissan Matic-S, replacement for Matic-J). Enjoy the ride and watch your speed as this car can easily go over 100 MPH if you're not paying attention.

Welcome to Nico. Love to see some pics of your car. The service manual Dennis suggested you read can be downloaded from here:

Thanks for the positive responses. I do love this car, and yes going 100MPH is simple in this car. I do a lot of freeway driving and find myself doing 90MPH without knowing it. I do find myself driving my 2002 GS430 when I want something that is a tad more sporty. Overall im really impressed with the car.

So which car has more punch at 60mph, the Q or the GS? I always liked the GS in theory but the odd-ball styling always caught me.

The GS feels more punchy all together. This past weekend I drove a friends 2007 G35 and it also feels more punchy. The Q is quick for a car of its size, but not quick by a sports car standard. The ride of this car makes up for everything. Drove it 300 miles this weekend from LA to Lake Havasu and it was amazing. The miles melted away.

That is what I figured, the GS is smaller. Keep an eye on oil consumption to ensure that all is good with that, this is the only gatcha with this year. My like my 97' your going to get lots of long stares from people trying to figure out what your car is, that is a coolness factor.
