I'm thining about buying these....

There the 17" rims. Tires are Pirelli P6 All Season 225 / 55 / 17 H rated. (Is that really the OEM tire??)

I'm wondering how close the overall diameter is to my OEM 15's?

Does anyone know if the '03 rims will weigh more or less than the 15's?

Just don't want to put them on and have more space in the fenders....

They are a 40mm offset...can anyone explain what that refers to?

I think the 225/50/17 are the correct diameter of the originals. The 40 MM offset is about right. It is 40 MM from the face of the hub, to the center of the wheel rim. A 0 MM offset, is where the face of the hub is exaclty in the center of the rim. The smaller the number, the farther out the rim will be. The 17" rims will be a little heavier, than the 15", but not much.

I LOVE that we have spellcheck, now!!!!!

I got those wheels but went with some 235/45 Yokos. I need to take that MAF out of the rear deck (2nd picture).

I was going to put my old BBS wheels on my Maxima (background 1st pic) but that looked terrible.

OEM height is 26.1".

225/55/17's are too tall, at 26.8".

I'd recommend 245/45/17's. They have a diameter of 25.7, sufficient load rating and are plentiful.

AZ - I have a set I bought from 1qkser a year ago, and have never used, I'd let you have them for what I have in them plus shipping, be close to $200 by the time it's all said an done. Just thought I'd offer.

Bionic,

Thanks for that pic...those rims look great on your car! My Q is black as well....can't wait to put them on!!!

yeah, the tires are not by choice they are coming with the rims....to cheap to pass up, and since there brand new, I'm going to run them for a while. At least they have a weight rating than the stockersr. I'll get them replaced as soon as I get a little extra cash.

Hitman,I'm not going to run into any problems with these am I? Just a tiny speedo error, right? About a 2.6% variance? As soon as I have the cash I'm going with the size you recommended. 225 is just not wide enough...

Thanks,Robert

Rex - I may be interested. I was hoping to find some ugly ones, since I'm just gonna use them for dragstrip rims.

Planned on painting them flat black, putting some cheap used tires on the front and some sticky drag radials on the back...

AZ, I have some nice chrome ones, on my new Q, that I thought I want ed to get rid of, but decided they look kinda good, and since I have new tires, I would run them off the rims, before I do anything else.

By the way, FYI:

The 7" rims can not handle a 245 or 255 tire, safely. The bead does not set properly. I would stick with the 225/50/15.

A 7.5" rim can handle the 245, but are sketchy on the 255. I would feel safer, with an 8" rim.

I ran 255's on my 16" 20-slots for almost 2 years.

Bead seating depends on the construction of the tire...

Greg, that was probably a 55 series tire, too. When you get to a 45 series tire (17" rim) the angle is not safe.

It can be done, just like you can put a 215 series tire on a 10" rim, but just dont push that 4500# car in a hard corner, at 85 MPH...

I saved that engine picture somewhere... thought it would look good cleaned up and turned into a poster.

BTW: I have a set of 15" Fittipaldi? rims that came w/my Q -gold honeycomb. Just sitting there (s'pose I should try to get rid of 'em).
