Hi Everyone! I'm new here. Just bought a '09 Versa SL with Convenience pkg, ABS, splash guard, & mats.

I was wondering how long is the break-in period for the Versa? I tried looking in the owners manual, search the internet, and searched this site and I couldn't find how long the break-in period is. I suck at looking up things and my boyfriend just gets annoyed at me when I keep asking him all these questions.

Someone please help me.

I believe my owner manual said to keep it under 4000 RPM for the first 1400 miles. Donot keep it at one speed to long on the freeway. You want to very your RPMs. I'm sure others will chime in with there advice.

It's about 1000 miles and the key is like what BigMac1520 said you need to constantly adjust your RPM's , oh and don't use cruise for that first 1000 miles because it likes hold the RPM's especially with the CVT transmission.

Thanks so much for the advice! Will definitely follow it!

Any other advice about keeping the car in good condition will be GREATLY appreciated! This forum seems a hell'of a LOT nicer than my boyfriend.

Hey Versa09, if you dont mind me asking where did you get it from and how was your experience buying one? Im in NYC as well and I have been getting the run around from one dealer. I got another to price match but they wont allow me to buy it completely on credit card (to avoid financing nightmare and get somoe points on the Credit Card). They said cash or certified check. Let me know how your experience was

I bought it at Koeppel Nissan in Queens. Which dealer did you go to? It was an ok experience. I came in with my own financing and they kept on trying to get me to finance through them but I stood my ground. They are nice but you do need to get everything on paper. I got squeezed out of an option I wanted and when I went back to my salesman, he said that he never said that and he would not say anything like that. Which was complete BS Then he offered me a year of free oil change in compensation for the misunderstanding but that was 2 weeks ago and I didn't get anything yet.

They are pretty nice to deal with but just keep in mind...they are out there to get as much commission off you as possible.

i hope this helps a little. If not, feel free to ask me any other questions about it as you like!

Thanks for the info, I went to Great Neck Nissan, right on the Queens/Nassau border. very nice guys and gave me a good price (16,850 hatchback auto SL w/abs/convenience), but when it came time for financing they "forgot" that the price included a rebate and i couldnt get the low financing. So I went to Atlantic Automall in West Islip (LI) and they said they could price match but I could not charge (on Credit card) the entire sale. Since my cash is not available right now and I dont want to finance I gave up for now. Either later this week or next weekend I should be driving away with a new car. This whole experience has been such a headache. Really wish I would have just resurected my 92 maxima with 205,000 miles on it. Oh well guess I gotta move on. thanks again.

Hmm I must have bought one of the last blue ones left in NYS!! I got mine in Kingston though about a 2hour ride from queens. Picked it up last week. Love the car but my dumb *** had to put in Sirius Satalite and now my airbag light on the dash is flashing. I assume by unplugging the airbag weight sensor light connector in the dash I set off a code in the ECM so when I bring her in for the first service I will have them shut off the light. With any luck they won't void my warranty and charge me an arm and a leg for a full diagnostic.

When I got my silver car, the only thing I can think of was "if I park my car in a parking lot, and I can't remember where I parked the car, the only thing I would say to myself is: Hmm...Which silver car is mines? this one? that one? no wait...that one..." there are alot of silver cars out there. I like silver, when silver wasn't as popular it was really nice. then all you saw was silver cars everywhere. I don't know...maybe I'm just picky like that haha

ok...2-3 weeks into the car...280 miles on it only...in NYC, you parallel park everywhere...so I parked it...2 hours later went back to the car and someone had scratched my left rear...it looks like the a**hole was pulling out of a spot behind me and didn't have enough room and continued going along the left side of my car. So now I see the left rear bumper with no paint on it...and also scratches along the side of the car on top of the left wheel....I'm about to have a heartattack!

well growing up in Manhatten I know about street parking. That's why I never had a new car till I moved up here in Poughkeepsie. If it's any consolation I saw that Maco is running a special to paint bumbers for $149.00. It was prbably one of their guys that did it trying to drum up some business

Bad luck I guess, I got an 09 less than 2 weeks ago, have exactly 1000 miles on it, at day 10 I went out to the car and it was hit. Someone must have backed into it and dented/chipped the rear left wheel well/ bumper. $675 worth of damage and with my $500 deductable I am not sure if I will be repairing it. I lived on Long Island my whole life and never had a car hit on the street. About 2 years in Queens and my car has been hit 3 times while parked. I hate living in the city. Cant wait to move.

hey greggie I feel for ya. Like I said I never had a new car until I moved out of the city. Where were you on the Island? I went to school there and my sister lives there now. I personally won't live someplace where I need to take a bridge or a tunnel to leave or come back to. I think you know what I mean.

Comsdude, I know what you mean, but to love LI I think you had to grow up there, between the beaches and the proximity to the city I find it ideal. I grew up in the middle of the island (Central Islip). I know exactly what you mean about the bridges, you have to go west to get off the island and I work up in Westchester so I get to pay $180 a month just for the pleasure of driving over a bridge to get to work every day!

That's funny I used to live in brooklyn and work in Westchester. I still work in White Plains but now live north. Had my fill of the beach thing when I was yonger now I am more of a lake guy.
