but my car was broken into 2 nights ago. luckily I was able to find the bastards within 24 hours.

Anyways, onto the story. lol

I stopped by the shop where I work at part-time after my primary job. well, when I got there, I noticed my hood was unlatched and my door was slightly open. I walked over to my shop manager and asked him if he used my battery or anything and he said he hasn't touched my car since we pushed it out of the shop to finish up this kid's SR swap (that was a day and a half ago). He came into the shop a few times, sometimes to even help out with the small stuff. We knew he was a little short on money, so we made some pretty good deals with him (we swapped his SR in for 650 bucks and I traded my intercooler setup PLUS installation for his KA motor). I spent many nights staying at the shop with my boss making sure everything was 100% set with his car and made sure it ran well. I even sold him my downpipe for real cheap and even installed it (20 bucks installed).

Just out of curiosity, I popped my hood to find my AEM intake and 2" Koyo radiator gone. Someone slashed the hoses and swiped my intake. first thought was, "Who?". well, I looked inside my car and my gauges were gone as well as my radio, but the radio wasn't cut, it was unplugged. From there I knew it had to have been another 240 owner or someone who knew where to disconnect everything (which led me back to another 240 owner).

A week prior to all this, we were finishing up the SR swap on a black 240 coupe. Got the car running nicely and all the kid needed was a thicker radiator and a boost gauge and he was pretty much set. He also mentioned needing a radio for his car, as it was going to be his daily driver. he continually asked to trade something for my gauge and I told him nothing was for sale and that my car wasn't a parts car. He asked how much I wanted for the radiator and I persisted to tell him it wasn't for sale and it got to the point where I told him to stop harassing me about it.

Bingo.

I got on the phone with the kid (and I say kid because he's 17....not quite a legal adult) and asked him to be honest with me and that there would be no cops involved if he did something. I even gave him a chance to bring all my parts back down to the shop and leave and never come near the shop again. He must have thought I was born at 21 years of age or something, so he told me that he didn't know what I was talking about and that he's been working on his friend's Cadillac all day. At that point, I told him that his chance was given and that the police were going to get involved.

I explained my findings and compared it to the kid asking about it the week before and the cop I talked to said that it made sense and that the kid is guilty without a doubt.

About an hour and a half later, he came down to the shop and he was asked questions about the incident and he ended up telling the police it was him as well as his cousin. both were arrested for not only my car, but 2 other of our customer's cars. I'm just really glad I caught the ***hole before it was too late...within 24 hours too! But I wasn't able to get my parts back just yet (he said that his parts were at a friend's house).

Anyways, I'm sure plenty of you guys know this, but watch what people see under your hood.

I am glad you busted them! I had my 240 broken into a couple of years ago. Head unit, ton of CD's stolen. Then I got myself on of these and nothing has happened since. In all reality not that much for a little peace of mind.

Damn, that's not too bad of a deal. I'm going to definitely invest in that when I scrounge up some money. Thanks!

Yeah it makes no sense considering I practically GAVE this kid the intercooler setup (which came with precut piping and a BOV!)...and for him to do that shows that he's a selfish prick.

He tried to rush the entire project, expecting us to drop it in, wire it up, and perfect it in 2 days. I told him the last time we did that, a 600 dollar KA rebuild was lost because someone was impatient and we weren't about to make that same mistake again.

Not only that, he was a big time liar. He claims to have built "700 HP" Mustangs and he revved one to 12K one time , yet he didn't know where the turbo went on an SR motor and didn't know what a wastegate was.

well, it might come down to his father giving us the 240 with the SR in it for reimbursement of damages done. Now THAT wouldn't be too bad. lol

I would have done the same thing if I caught them in the act. It just blows my mind away that a customer we helped out does this s*** to us. Whatever. I pressed charges against his punkass, so the judicial system will take care of it.

UPDATE!

Well, I just went and got my parts back today plus $300 for all the bulls*** I had to go through. Luckily nothing was destroyed, but I still wanna beat the piss outta the prick.

I find it funny that the county sherriff was able to make an arrest with no problems, but for them to pursue the case was basically asking them to cut a testicle off.

My lawyer was able to get my things back within days of him hearing about it.

Glad you got your stuff back and the kid got caught. He must not earn his own money for parts, otherwise he would appreciate the time/work/money it takes to make a car nice, and stop stealing other peoples hard earned stuff. I hope karma gets his a** back good.

that kid doesn't deserve to have a car at all, if I were a judge i would sentence all car theft related crimes with a lifetime ban on driving by not allowing them to get their drivers license... if that makes any sense

lol it makes sense to. I don't think this kid should touch cars period. Here's why:

"I've built full blown 550 Camaros and had my buddy's Mustang get to 12 grand, so don't talk to me like I don't know anything about cars"

He told me that while I was wiring up his SR's ECU. While the motor was out of the car, he asked what a wastegate was and couldn't find the turbo on the SR motor. I didn't know if he was being serious or not, but for someone who has built "full blown Camaros and Mustangs that rev to 12 grand", I was a little surprised that he couldn't find much on a 2.0L motor.

Now he's on Craigslist trying to sell the car for an outrageous price. (he bought the motor for 1700, claims to have bought it for 2100 on CL and installed it himself). Last I heard from the shop manager, he already popped his motor because he let it run too hot.
