Went to check out the Fits, they had one they had recieved earlier that day, and it had a $4000 "Dealer Market Adjustment".
It was gone the next day, I didn't see the big deal.
I agree. If a dealership is able to sell a car for a higher price than another dealership, then more power to them. Who am I to tell them how they should do business with someone else? It scares me to think that there are people who would want prices to be regulated by a third party.
When I got back from Brazil, I really wanted to buy a Honda Fit. The only dealership in the Vegas valley that had a manual Fit that I could even think about looking at was Honda West, which added about 4k above MSRP. They always have cars in stock, always charge more, and always sell to the people that "have to have it now". I didn't want to pay that high of a price, so I didn't buy.
Later I considered trading in my V for a WRX. I didn't like the dealer's offer, and they didn't like my counter, so I didn't buy it.
Its funny that people don't complain about retail stores that charge higher prices than their competitors, but their price differences are MUCH greater than the few percent markup that we are talking about here.
