So, I used to neutral drop in my old car cause I didn't car about it. I have thought about it many times in my G but never done it and wonder how much damage if any can it cause? It just HAS to be bad for your transmission.

I actually have the answer to that

In most cases it WONT hurt it .. but there is a 70-80% Chance of you breaking something ... If your going to do it! MAKE SURE you can PAY FOR DAMAGES!

And I used to do it all the time also

Now i have stopped because i got a standard

Neutral drop...you mean revving it in neutral and slamming it into gear...ya, that's not good on the AUTO!

You can shear the teeth off of the gears, and that would cost a lot to repair.

If you want to do some neutral bombs, go rent a G35, and buy the insurance.

I think neutral drops are a GREAT idea! After all, transmissions aren't that expensive... Please send me all of your friends information so that I can forwarn them to NEVER EVER loan you their car!!!!! How irresponsible is that dude... what would you gain from doing a neutral drop... do you think some ricer wannabe chick is going to think it's cool??? It's not, it's destructive to your car... If you are trying to burn out your tires then why didn't you buy a manual 6sp???? I think someone has a new drivers license!

How does that work? If you have a 70-80% of breaking something, that means you have a 20-30% chance of not breaking anything. Usually that means in most cases you will break something.

You know, it's hard to tell who you are talking to since you didn't quote but since it says your post is in reply to mine I can only best assume you are talking to me. Listen, I am no idiot now, maybe I am not mechanically inclined but that is why I am asking, to learn. As I said, I did it in an old car that I didn't care about and I always knew it was bad, I just wanted to know how bad and what kind of consequences there where. I don't think there is a need for all the sarcasm. If you can't answer a noobs question without being a jerk why not just pass up that thread and move on? If I am way out of left field on this, then I apologize in advance, one of the down falls of the internet is that it's hard to discern a persons tone, but the way I read it, it did not sound too polite. And I have had my license for a good while, age 15 to age 26? Yeah, I don't too much consider that a new drivers license.

Agreed. Flaming pisses me off A LOT. I have very little tolerance for it. I am also in a position that I can ban someone for excessive flaming. I don't see this as being a big problem, in the G35 forum (unlike the 240 general forum). Most of us are older, and not trying to flex our internet muscles.

I rarely watch TV, and that is probably why this is new to me. But I saw a great commercial last night, and found it on you tube. This is the perfect time to link to it.

Lets keep the standard a little higher in here.

Nuetral bombs are about as smart as unprotected sex with a hooker....sure you might do any damage once or twice.....but all it takes is once to regret it the rest of your life.

Also remember the auto drivelines aren't as strong as the manuals and they are more expensive to fix. Every Nbomb you drop will off like 15k to all of the life of a transmission.

The G forum is generally flame free. But on occassion I guess some posts make some people shake their heads.

Both of you (you know who you are) are valued members and generally helpful to other members... so I assume we can all just move on from here on in!

Cheers boys!

Addiction, I would like to apologize to you for being a dik yesterday... I had a very BAD day and needed to vent Long story short, I've had to lay off several valued employees due to a downtrodden market along with having to recently deal with my brothers death and several other issues, it's put me in the biggest funk! There was no excuse for going off on you yesterday as it is your car to do with as you please... I appreciate this forum and it was not my intention to be so harsh... I think I should take a temporary leave of absence from Nicoclub until I can learn to play nice in the sandbox... I enjoy contributing to this site, but not at the expense of well rounded, like minded, enthusiasts as yourself.

Apologies to all

Gracefully bowing out....

Dave

First and foremost... I'm very sorry to hear of your brother. My sympathies...

I can relates to letting people go, I have to do it at least 1-2 times a week...and it never get's easier.

Now... as far as the leave of absence??? Put the crack pipe down... go get your biggest, baddest, coolest Tonka truck you can find and come meet us back in the sandbox!!!

Trust me...if you want to see people going off on eachother... mosey on over to the 240 forum... I swear those mods have ulcers by now..

AZ it's quite alright, at least you were able to own up and apologize, I admire that a lot. I am truly sorry to hear about your lose. I know how it feels as well as the stresses of being a supervisor. I also enjoy you being around and the answers you have given myself and other self proclaimed noobs to the auto world on here. I would like to say that I to do not wish you to take a leave of absence however if it is what you feel you need to do then I think I speak for all of us here at Nico when I say we will all be awaiting your return. And trust me, cause I know that it probably made other people around here cringe at the thought of neutral dropping a G. I would NEVER do it in my G, I was only curious as to the amount of damage it would cause.

this thread is full of fail and full of mis-information

just don't do it, you have a manual and you just got to stick with it.

Yo, AZ, don't leave. I didn't mean to come off like a bastard. Just like to see everyone being nice/cool to eachother, that's all.
