i saw an article on the NEO VVL (variable valve lift) sr20ve motor stating that it pushes 187 hp as opposed to the sr20det motor which supposedly produces 140 hp. Everywhere I turn, someone is giving a different figure for stock hp on the sr20det motor. Is this article correct in stating that it is only 140 hp stock? and if so, why wouldn't we all put this FWD NEO VVL SR20VE motor in our 240's?

If you have never seen this article, you may find it at: http://www.nissanperformancema...20ve/

please e-mail me with with a knowledgeable answer as i have little time to check these forums for the answer. but who knows, i may check back next week.

well, you didn't leave your email address, but I'll try to answer you question.

First, that is not being put in a 240sx, that is a FWD motor going in, not RWD. Notice how the block is put in lengthwise as opposed to north/south orientation like that of 240sx's. Also notive the Infiniti symbol on the car in part 3 of the install.

Second, its the sr20ve (no t). It makes 187 na horsepower. The sr20de makes 140 na hp. The sr20det makes 205 turbocharged hp (assuming s13 redtop).

hope that helps a little...
